I actually like that green colour...an outragous colour for an outragous car. That said, I'd never want that crazy green on a Veyron because that car isn't 'outragous' IMO. It doesn't look loud compared to the Koeniggseggg.

Yeah, Jeremy uses a Toyota Hilux, Hammond uses a VW Van and James uses a Triumph. Should be the best one yet!

I predict total failure on the amphibious car front, mostly because I think Clarkson will probably do his usual "go over the top and fail for comic effect" routine. That and because building a good amphibious car is damn hard.
I remember, on "Monster Garage" (I don't know if it is shown outside the US, but I doubt it. It is a show where a guy is given a vehicle and a team of experts and is told to make it into something ridiculous in a week) where they converted an New Beetle into a boat. It just barely worked (was slowly sinking the whole time), and they had good engineers and materials to work with. My bet is on sound fundamental designs from at least two presenters, but bad waterproofing work.

I'm also excited about the Exige S, but I doubt it will do that much better around the track. It can't corner that much better than a normal Exige (because it is so superb to start with), and it's aerodynamics and relatively low horsepower means it tops out too quickly on the follow through. I predict a time around 1:25.5.

Also Topgear.com reveals "...here's a new supercharged Exige S. To see how good this one is they lined up the Stig and, er, a Mustang. "
What are they trying to prove? This just seems cruel to me. Even if somehow they managed to get a Shelby, the Exige is still superior in every single way except horsepower and legroom! The Mustang is just goin' get raped!

Yeah, it seems it will be a comparison of low power good handling and high power poor handling.

Which will lead to another terrible argument afterwards about how the Mustang is a performance bargain or cheap etc. Here we go again

I grabbed some screenshots from the first episode preview (Might as well make my first post a useful one!) and it looks like Richard has tried to make his camper a canal boat - look at the chimney at the back! And yes, Jeremy is using a Hilux - but am I right in thinking it's a newer one than last time?

Wouldn't mind seeing James and the Triumph win, but Sail is probably a bit too adventurous.

Jeremy certainly weighs more - but then, he probably also has the most buoyancy once he's actually in the water. Maybe he should take advantage of this.

I got a more detailed preview of the episode tomorrow from the Top gear website

** SPOILER WARNING **

Don't read on if u still want to be surprised.... it's a detailed preview

Quote:
In the news this week...
If you own a dog that likes sticking its head out of moving vehicles then you'll need to get a pair of Doggles (really), which Richard demonstrates on the Top Gear dog.

The boys say hello to the new Vauxhall Corsa - and goodbye to the Hummer H1. Sob. Meanwhile, Jeremy reveals his mum doesn't like the new Honda Civic and Richard suggests she drives a Noble M15 instead.

Lotus Exige S
In the last series of Top Gear Jeremy managed to avoid missile lock from an Apache helicopter in a Lotus Exige (want to try this yourself?), but now there's a new supercharged Exige S. To see how good this one is they lined up the Stig and, er, a Mustang. Yup, it's the battle of sushi v hamburger when they go head-to-head in a two-lap race around the track.

Amphibious Cars
This week the lads were set a challenge to build their own amphibious car, drive to a reservoir and get across a two mile stretch of water.

Sounds simple enough... except that they all chose ridiculous cars that'll probably never float - James went all nautical and opted to make a triumph herald into a sailing dingy, Jeremy decided on an indestructable Hilux and Richard bought along a camper van to turn into a house boat.

We've seen what happens, but you'll have to wait until Sunday to find out who wins and who ends up with pondweed between their teeth. It's well worth a watch.

Also this week...
The return of the cool wall, which as usual there are yelps of 'cool' and 'rubbish' (and a few words they'll edit out for Sunday). Plus, Philip Glenister (the hard-bitten DCI in BBC One's Life on Mars) as the star in a reasonably priced car.

^^ FWIW - Life on Mars - cross between Quantum Leap and Inspector Morse (well sort of), and is quite brilliant! My current fav.
