TGTV show 6 preview

'The big news is that Sabine Schmidt is back with a vengeance
http://www.topgear.com/blogs/planettopgear/135-show-six-wilman/
I missed my blog last week, so I'm sorry about that. But it always gets hectic towards the end of the series, as the editing of the films catches up with one and stuff.

Before I get on to the coming week's show, though, I just want to clear up a bit of housekeeping. Firstly, if the boys on Final Gear are reading this - WE DID NOT DUB A BLOODY V8 ON THE DAIHATSU TERIOS. Promise, chaps.

We like to do our best with the Jerry Bruckheimer noises, but we have our standards, and one of those standards is to not upset car dweebs - we like them too much.

I asked the director the same question about the engine when I saw the first cut of the film and he said you can hear the V8 camera car in the background, but the Terios still makes its own rorty little sound.

Secondly, if Final Gear boys are still tuned in, one of you wrote a couple of weeks ago that James hadn't been in the series much, and that we therefore must be grooming the viewers for him leaving. Pleeeeeese. Go and put that fertile conspiracy theory brain of yours to better use. Find out if Kennedy was shot in Dallas, or during a faked moon landing.

I think you're right, there's not been enough James and Richard solo films this run - it's a bit of a Rubik's Cube putting a show together and that's the way the cards have fallen. Hopefully we'll sort it in the next series, but no, James isn't going. He'll go when he gets grumpy and fed up with the show, and to my memory he's been grumpy and fed up with the show since the day he started.

I could do a bit more housekeeping about the fresh load of bollocks that's been in the papers - The Sun gets the Bollocks Gold Medal Award this week - but frankly, life's too short.

Right, the final show. Well, the big news is that Sabine is back with a vengeance. You may remember her as the scorching racing driver who schooled Jeremy in his attempt to whack a Jag round the 'Ring in under 10 minutes; now she fronts a German version of Top Gear, with three presenters, and so naturally we issued a challenge - bring some cars, meet us in Belgium, and basically come and have a go if you think you're hard enough.

So they did, and it's a big extravaganza of a shootout that swings from It's a Knockout to some cracking hard racing. And there are, if I say so myself, some priceless moments. Just watch out for Jeremy's partner in one of the races, that's all I'm saying. And also there's a twist at the end, just like a proper Hitchcock thriller.

In addition to that we have Hammond doing the power test, which is the road-going version of the Gumpert Apollo. It is devastatingly ugly, and also devastatingly fast, so practise moving your eyeballs quickly from left to right before you watch the film. Then there's James on his own in Japan, looking at Japan's secret car company.

Finally, as I write this, Jay Kay is coming down with his sights fixed firmly on Cowell's lap time. In truth, I think he's the only star around at the moment with the speed to knock Cowell off the top, and bugger me is he hungry for it. So, no rain dances from anyone please. Let your gardens wither - we need a dry track on Wednesday.

Haha, first time I've actually seen him specifically mention Final Gear.

"Andy if you are reading this, give me a job! ...or do an Australian special, either one." images/smilies/tongue.gif

Anyway I can't believe its the end of the season already! images/smilies/cry.gif I have to say the Nissan GT-R track test was by far the highlight for me, as soon as the episode finished I just hit play again - magic!

There is no way they are able to fit all of the stuff from the preview, that hasn't been showed yet, in this episode...

Remember, how before the season Andy said, that they are gonna have more and shorter segments. The first episode had a lot of short segments, but I think they didn't like it, and decided to go with the old-fashioned way...

And that's probably why the preview had some stuff we haven't and probably won't see...images/smilies/sad.gif Until the next seriesimages/smilies/biggrin.gif

So I don't think it's possible to have all the stuff, we haven't seen yet from the preview, in this episode. images/smilies/blink.gif

Like for instance: Two Mitsuokas, Richard in that chair with a motor, Gumpert Apollo, Mazda Furai, Richard and the off-road car, the stunt mans Bond stunt (the one where they succeed, that BBC site mentioned), Britain vs. Germany, touring cars.... Anyone thinking of anything to add???

Anyone agreeing with me?

Andy cracks my shit up. I love it. And it's true, in the episode discussion forum people were already talking about overdubbing the audio. images/smilies/lol.gif

Looks like an awesome episode, I cannot wait!

No but the same thought went through my head. If you look at the date, that comment was posted on the 17th which was Thursday

I think I know the car that Hammond is going to be testing... I remember it being in the car news before. But I thought it was Chinese.

Watch the video at 41 seconds

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Also by the look of it, I think the stuff that people think is missing is going to be in that rival challenge. Like the airplane race and the dune buggy race thing that is in the preview. The only part missing is Richard on that motorized chair.

6 episodes is far too less. wilman! you can make an entire episode (or two) with all the stuff you've left out over the years!

It out lasted all the piston cars with very little pit stops for "engine problems" like the sauber mercedes did (when it was dominating). In the end, when they stripped the car apart (after it won) the engine had very little wear and tear, which caused porsche to bitch and complain and ban the rotary engine from le mans. Later, Rotary engines were re-admitted, but were heavily crippled, thus, mazda stopped entering rotary le mans cars and joined the piston cup.

To the people who blow their seals:
change your oil, get it properly tuned, and if you wanna run it hard (450 rwhp +) always check your knock. Otherwise, get a 3 rotor NA a la furai.

Obviously that guy doesn't know what reliability is. If looked after properly a rotary engine is able to last as long as a traditional piston engine.
