Actually, I think TopGear would be a lot better if it had a smaller budget.

I think they were talking excluding the episode which was about to air. Radio Times online certainly lists TG in its usual timeslot on August 2nd, which would be 13x07.

How about the Aston Martin V12 vantage. Saw it in the preview as well. I just hope they're not cramming all the rest of those stuff in the last episode.

I have permanent hearing damage from the AC/DC UFO gig. Loudest show I ever saw by far.
UFO... one of my favorite bands. Mostly because of one of my favorite guitarists, Michael Schenker. Never have seen them live, however. It's difficult when you're in America.

I did see AC/DC back in '85 (or was it '86?) with Yngwie Malmsteen as the opener. That was a loud show! And a good one!

Brian Johnson does a fair bit of vintage road racing, so expect to see a fast time from the Reasonably Priced Car.

As for the complaints about the cheap car challenges, I like them, so the more the better I say! Especially cars I've owned (Porsche 944), my neighbors have owned (Volvo wagon) and ones I've wanted (300ZX, Golf). Keep it real!

That's the problem really. They're not real, not anymore anyway. They don't even keep score anymore, and when they do, they come up with stupid point systems that make no sense except to provide easy scripted laughs. "And James, you got negative fifteen thousand, five hundred, and eighty points for your pathetic lap around the track." -yawn- They're not really challenges anymore, since the outcome isn't to succeed, but to make such a mess of it that people will laugh.

I wish it were real. They use to be hilarious good fun when they took it seriously.

But the trouble is now is that they want to keep their audience and the only way to do that is to make them laugh, unfortunately. It's not what it was use to, yes, but I'd rather lose them when petrolheads are keen to watch it for its purity than everyone watching them and making a fool of themselves.

Maybe I just over think it.

I'm usually able to suspend disbelief and enjoy the show while I'm watching it. But once it's over and I have time to think about it, it loses it's humor. I think it's fair to say that the funniest parts of the cheap car challenges are when they lose. When bad things happen. Those are the funniest moments. But if they're not actually trying to win, and losing isn't a big deal, then the humor lessens.

Knowing that the show is scripted, that the stunts are staged, and that none of the presenters really care about winning or losing, pretty much destroys the humor of those segments for me. They have no repeat value. It's like watching someone snag the last piece of cake away from someone who really wanted it. That's funny. But snagging the last piece from someone who didn't want it and couldn't care less... not so much.

Somehow I can't get to the spoiler section, so I'll post it here instead.

Twitter lead me to another interview with Madison Welch, James's erm..lovely co-driver in this episode. Here is the link. Very much NSFW!

In case you don't want to click, here's the text. (Not the pics. images/smilies/tongue.gif)

Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display)
We'd love it if all our favourite TV shows included ZOO girl cameos. Now, we've made it a reality! Our very own Madison Welch has joined up with Clarkson, Hamster and Captain Slow for a Top Gear special that promises to be awesome.

'I couldn't believe it,' squeals 32E Mads. 'There's a classic car rally in Majorca every year which the boys were competing in. Each is given a co-driver and James May got me because he's really shy with women! There were loads of girls up for the role, so I was shocked they picked me.' We can only imagine how smug Captain Slow must've been...

'Ha ha. He was absolutely lovely,' she says. 'We spent days on end with each other so we got really friendly. Did he try it on? No! But it was nicely flirty. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't have to do it with Clarkson or Hammond.'

Unfortunately, the Brummie babe isn't so enthusiastic about how they performed: 'I'm useless with cars and James lived up to his Captain Slow nickname. We could've gone quicker if I'd got out and pushed!'

Madison's Movie Career
But this isn't the end of our girl's burgeoning on-screen career. She's also nabbed herself a film role. 'I'm going to be in a movie called Your Highness,' she reveals. 'I'm playing a temptress alongside Amii Grove and Rhian Sugden.'

Even better, the trippy fantasy is co-written by and starring comedy king Danny McBride. And Natalie Portman's in it, too! That's some cast.

Something tells us we're going to see a lot of Madison - and her amazing 32E rack - in the future...

Catch Madison on Top Gear this Sunday at 8pm on BBC2

LC, you need to go into the social groups thing and join the "I want to see the spoilers" group. I think there's a link on the main page in the "stop posting spoilers here" thread.

One question (probably irrelevant in this thread though); remember that stunner who was in a hatchback with James as shown on the trailers in EP1..when do I (or we) get to see her? Is it in tonight's episode?
