Oh hell yes, I was hoping they would do this again! I can't wait!

DHarris, you win One Free Internet

The funniest thing about the Britcar website is the fact that they mention "As seen on Top Gear". I honestly thought it was a fairly sizeable event on its own!

Also, some people have really gotten into the Top Gear Technology Centre BMW, including this lad who made a custom model of it for Forza Motorsport 2.

Yes and no, I've been there for the last 2 years now, and 2007 had a big crowd as opposed to the few people who turned out for 2006. The Popularity effect of Top Gear was very noticeable and definitely helped raise the profile. It's a great event with or without the boys though, so if you like your endurance racing... come on down and join the fun!

This is amazingly cool. There should be plenty of time to put the film into the next series!!images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I think all of the presenters will do it again - they have all said what a great time they had. Can't wait.

Hmm, there's been another provisional entry list released, and "Top Gear Technology Centre" are on it, with the BMW 330 DTi, but with four TBA drivers.

Interesting!

Four? Then that means the whole squad is back, with his Stigness leading the charge.

I just hope the Hamster doesn't bin it again.

Hmm, If that's the case, I wonder how many Stig's they'll bring this year (last year there were 3, but only one raced)

Hey, what? Any chance of the story behind that?

I believe it was just to keep a bit of mystery in the Stig's identity, there were three our four (I heard four) "Stigs" signed on as drivers for Team Top Gear last year. But yeah, only one of them raced. One of them was racing for another team (I only know who two of them were, it's likely that others would be from other teams).

What Martyn said there. Unfortunately they also put each "stig's" initials on the pit sheets. as I recall there were 3, one of them was definately a one off for that event, chosen because of his specialism at Silverstone.

I'm not going to tell you who it was though.

I was listening to RLM's stream of last years event, and they had James Tucker on the show both during the qualifying and during the race itself, though I think the latter was a repeat of sorts.

Anyway, he said that the fact that Top Gear had been announced as a team, meant that the Britcar website had surged from something like 20,000 hits to over 4 million overnight & that they had had to purchase extra bandwith to cope with demand.

If the team are driving this year too, I'd say this news is Awesome-on-Toast!

The Britcar episode remains one of my favourites.

It appears that the top gear entry has been scratched from the race. There is a team in a black BMW330 however, so that could be the car - but it's being run as CTC and not Top Gear.
