It's not Andy, it's the cameraman Iain May, he's the one who is chasing after Jeremy when they get off the train in this video:

I have got a tip for the BBC to save money on the production of Top Gear: just ask for people to send in their camera footage and make the programme from that. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

The people videoing them and talking to them etc really shows how well known they are, plus the popularity of the show. images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah, that could work for the cheapo show they are planning. Just tell where the guys will be. No need to send a camera man out.

That car is so f*cking cool! And I read a rumour that the BBC isn't gonna broadcast it because it's all over the internet now? That can't be true, right?

Hardly. They went through a lot of effort making this film. And TopGear is being viewed by over six million people in the UK. The overall majority of them never visit these fan forums. Plus I haven't seen any reporting in the press. images/smilies/wink.gif

Of course they will broadcast it. I mean, do you want to watch it less, now you know what it's about? images/smilies/smile.gif

There were a few situations when BBC threw away footage produced for Top Gear, but I don't think a Big Race is a case in point. Especially now, when they are on a lower budget, they should try and make the best out of what they can get together - and I guess they yet have the stuff to impress us with.

I wish I could have a job as a cameraman on Topgear. That would truly be awesome - chase after Clarkson on a train one day, then play around on the track the next images/smilies/tongue.gif At least that would be some kind of a dream job for me.

Looks like the wedding & James in the car, is in Yorkshire, about the half way point between Edinbrough & london. They must meet up for some reason, bit odd for a race don't you think

What makes you think it's in Yorkshire???
The person who posted these videos on YouTube said it was Edinburgh and besides, that groom does look rather Scottish to me somehow. Not to mention the bagpipe player. (Can I point out my signature statement?) images/smilies/wink.gif

^^ Not only that, but they are actually standing in front of the Balmoral Hotel which I think you will find is in Edinbrough.

It might not be as great as you think. Don't get me wrong, I love TopGear but, when things become more like work and less like play it changes.

I'm a photographer and one of the things I sometimes do is shoot bands. Sure, it sounds great, I get front row/backstage access, but it's still work. I've been at concerts where I was shooting and could not even tell you what songs they played. Might seem like a dream, and it is at times, but you've got heavy/expensive camera gear, you've got to get in the right spot at the right time, worry about lighting, work to get the shots you want, have people trying to steal your stuff, ask you questions, etc.

Not always all it's cracked up to be and not what people think it is.

Little bit more info for you here, from the editior of a railway magazine in the UK.

"On the subject of Top Gear and Tornado. I was on the train on Saturday and have been party to the preparations for a year and a half. I wrote the first letter to the TG office that helped get the ball rolling and have had to keep it quiet for a very long time. "
....
" You might read in the next issue that the plans were for Hammond to drive the A1, Clarkson to be in a Bentley and May to fly a DC6. At the time of going to press that was the plan we were party to. It didn't happen quite that way on the day... what did happen was fascinating, and at one or two points, hilarious. You'll be able to read the whole story (including Mike Notley's performance log and verdict on Fireman Jeremy 'COME ON TRAIN!' Clarkson) in ((the next two editions))... "
