Naw, that balloon was almost certainly filled with completely inert helium. Only hydrogen explodes and then only under very special and unlucky circumstances. They were under no risk of that unless they were very, very, very stupid.

I have to agree with diti. Considering that the average person walks about 3-4 miles an hour, then yes, I'd have to say that's quite a slow crash. However they obviously had little control, were at the mercy of the winds and still in danger of getting caught up in trees or even coming down on some high tension lines.

I imagine that James (and crew's) descent was not without it's sphincter clenching moments.

LOL, you could film anything from that far away and it'd be boring. Why they even bothered with the camera is beyond me. Never forget I'm from the country that plays baseball, which as far as I can tell gives cricket a run for the money in the dull department.
