Just acquired the October issue of Romanian TG magazine from one of my local newsagents, and the editorial by the magazine's chief... erm... y'know..., Costin Giurgea, sheds a bit more light on this episode, although he says that the full extent of the deal is actually under embargo until the episode is broadcast in the UK.

He implies that the two publicised appearances of the TG3 are, let's say, the tip of an iceberg, since, for a couple of reasons, they were unable to publicise every location that they visited; and the reasons are as follows:

1) if we actually knew every place they visited, it would spoil the whole charm of the episode, so therefore their more publical appearances on the Transfăgărăşan and in Bucharest are just a taste for the whole deal;

2) they had to take the safety of the TG3 and of the fans into account, because if the whole location list had been known beforehand, well... they're using public roads in Romania and there's always that one "bright" guy who's looking for a bit of a race or a needless argument.

Nevertheless, he says that filming took place without incident on every location and thanks everyone involved for actually understanding the magnitude of this and allowing it to happen in such a smooth manner.

So... what we've seen here in this thread so far hardly paints the full picture. If, as suggested, it's a film to cover a whole episode, you need more than these two locations.
