From another site...
"and I'm thinking the "record" they're talking about is the old Car and Driver Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash one. The record, accordingly to Wikipedia, was 32 hours and 51 minutes (about 87 mph) was set in the final run by Dave Heinz and Dave Yarborough in a Jaguar XJS."

If it is the USofA that standing record time of 32 hours and 51 minutes in a Jaguar XJS in the final run of the Cannonball would be a hard task. I dont think that they will be able to do it for a number of reasons. Although a Big country that would be better would be Russia, and the use of bribes would help them along.

I'd rather wait for them to take a new Dodge Challenger from Denver to Frisco. C'mon, you know what movie I'm talking about!

Too much XK on TG, I'm getting bored.
About the trip, "from cost to cost" sounds a lot like trans american GumBall 3000 from 2003.

The XK should be good, although another car would have been better, but I don't really see anyone giving TopGear a rare supercar for a 2500-3000 miles one-way trip. |

![]() Sounds good, but I don't see what's so bad about having the XK again.. It's the appropriate car since that record was set in an XJS, so makes sence, eh? |

Why must all road trips start in NYC? Why can't they start in Boston for once? Or Maine? No love for the New Englanders.

You did leave England.
They should try drive from Oslo to Hammarfest in Norway during winter instead. With powerful RWD cars. Now, that, would've been fun.
