I think they'll do a whole special. First weird Japanese cheap car challenge, then Impreza - Lancer test + Nissan GTR review.

Wow! First time I've been able to read a page of Top Gear Magazine (I live in the US). Does anyone know where I can find more? I think subscriptions are massively expensive here.

I would love a Japan special. There certainly is a lot to see over there.

First challenge: Can you make it through a Tokyo traffic jam without killing yourself, worth one point. images/smilies/tongue.gif

I'm sure that if they go to Japan to do the show it will be a whole special (like the American and African ones) and not just a 20-30 min segment

Series 9: America
Series 10: Africa
Series 11: Japan images/smilies/smile.gif

I know what Clarkson's going to say about the GT-R.

Quote:
The GT-R is fast, unbelievably fast. Its an amazing feat of engineering...etc etc... but, there's one thing Japanese engineers can't manufacture, and thats "soul". That unquantifiable something that makes a car special. While the Italians are giving birth to Keira Kneightlies in Modena, Japanese scientists in vacuum sealed laboratories are putting together a "Frankenstein's monster". Its big, heavy, scary, ugly, and it has no soul.
Or something along those lines.

Doubt it since he loved the previous versions.

A one hour special would be awesome. Maybe a cheap/tiny car segment, a 'best of' segment with stuff from the 90's, then a showdown with the new GT-R and something else.

If only Top Gear had the sway in Japan they do here, i'd love to see them close a little mountain road off for the battle, like they did on the Isle of Mann. Sweet.

Yeah, often with Jeremy his opinion of a car is not at all related to how "good" it is as a car. I imagine he's going to love what it can do, but be left uninspired. (The other GTRs had normal manuals also)

I think Nissan would be able to organise a road for them. If not, there are one-way toll roads that they could use that would almost be the same thing, like Irohazaka.

http://www.y-asakawa.com/peru_gazo/matyupityu_irohazaka.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w29/TsuRUKiChan/Irohazaka.jpg

The police aren't too much of a worry, especially on private toll roads.

Yes! images/smilies/clap.gif

I'm glad they are finally going. I hope they format the episode as a regular episode with all the segments being done in Japan. A large multi-car challenge (best cheap car, best japanese sport car, etc) and maybe a review or two of new upcoming Japanese cars (reviewed in Japan!).

Whatever they do I'm sure it will be great. images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Vote for Tsuchiya as the Stig's Japanese cousin.

If anyone gets a whiff of any information on the filming location/schedules for this trip, let me know and I'll go and see if I can get some photos images/smilies/biggrin.gif
