So, so, so looking forward to this.
A hour special or a Challenge (JC in GT-R vs others) would please me both ways. ![]() Some nice views of the Hakone / Akagi Region and roads would be neat.

Well, no one said it'd be an hour long special or even a challenge. Chances are it'll be like the opener of the last season where they went looking for good driving roads, or at least that's my thinking (i.e. just a long segment on the show).

Cue loads of Nihhonjin not moaning about JC saying that they are all into Schoolgirls' knickers and telephones the size of peas, and they all live in shoeboxes and don't believe in chairs and beds and normal civilised things.

I am hugely in favour of either a driving road challenge or a race - say, Tokyo - Osaka. There's no way this will not be incredible. |

Great news! I hope they test the GT-R, but I'm sure whatever they come up with will be great.

I can think of a few segments:
1. The Japanese version of the Honda Civic Type R is more powerful than the European one. Jeremy may do a comparison. 2. The most famous road in Japan is the Tokkaido, which connects Tokyo with Kyoto. Can't remember is there's a bullet train connection along the same route, but any challenge is likely to involve it. 3. Another possibility is Tokyo to Hokkaido, to take advantage of the ski season, using cheap cars. 4. "The Stig's Japanese cousin"? Try "cousins," plural -- all of them decked out like Power Rangers with colored versions of the Stig's helmet. 5. Another possible challenge may involve James May getting stuck with a samurai topknot. Or Jeremy trying to sleep in a capsule hotel while James & Richard get stuck in a "love hotel." |

they could race public transport but realistically i think they'd probably get beat.... even the veyron wouldnt stand a chance against huge traffic jams and a 525km/h mag lev train

i remember with the R32 or whatever that he liked it because it was a japanese car done the japanese way.... aggressive and pumped up on silicon steriods. i think he'd bemoaned the way that most jap sports cars were japanese built attempts at what europe already had and that the skyline was something totally original |

If they did any kind of race across the city the scooter/motorbike would win, followed by public transport (or bicycle?) and the car would come last. Of course, these challenges can be set up to favour a car. A race between major cities would depend on how willing they are to break speed limits. Considering that Japanese guy didn't think twice about taking his Supra to over 300kph on the M-1 I don't think they should be too bothered. If you're talking point to point, the train would win, followed by plane and then car. There are heaps of whacky cars to check out, mainly the K cars, as well as the usual suspects. I think the tunnel across Tokyo Bay would be cool (Wangan), theres a place where you can stop halfway and do some shopping/have dinner and its in the middle of Tokyo Harbour. Oh, count me in if theres something going on close to the city. |

I think this will be similar to the segement where the boys went to Spain to test the German V8 saloons. It looks like they went to Japan to test the GT-R and brought along a fearsome opponent (Audi R8). |

I'd love to see Tsuchiya as the Stig's Japanese Cousin.
Challenges would evolve on drifting and old school tuned cars. In addition, TG should also include the car culture of Japan, such as JDM and VIP style cars. |
