Series 11 countdown: GT-R v Bullet Train
The Nissan GT-R is clearly quite a car.

The kind of car that's built with such obsession that its tyres are filled with nitrogen so they don't suffer excessive pressure change when they get hot.

The kind of car that has an engine hand-built in a hermetically sealed room to ensure absolute precision and cleanliness.

The kind of car that got Jeremy so excited he was prepared to fly all the way to Japan to drive it.

Unfortunately, Richard and James insisted on tagging along too, so the Top Gear office came up with a very special race.

Could Clarkson in his technofest Nissan get from one side of Japan to the other before Hammond and May could do the same trip using public transport?

But not just any public transport. Japanese public transport: the most reliable and, thanks to the famous 186mph Bullet Train, the fastest mass transit network in the world.

As we said, the Nissan GT-R is clearly quite a car. But then, against that sort of adversary, it needs to be.

The new series of Top Gear kicks off at 8pm on Sunday June 22 on BBC Two.

Five days to go: Audi RS6 v skier

Six days to go: the Alfa Romeo Challenge

And if James is going to be in this episode, which isnt the first then it really wouldnt make sense for him to leave the show until after this season. Because what would be the point in being in two episodes out of a six show series.

Why does everyone keep thinking he is leaving the show? WTF?

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

There is no replacement for Captain Slow.
- Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group talking about the Top Gear, allegedly.

And no, I don't know where all this silly speculation about James leaving the show started either. Given that in his recent blog Wilman stated how amazed they are that it has run this long, and also how hard it is getting coming up with ideas, I reckon if one of them did decide to leave then the whole team would probably call it a day. But I could be wrong - after all John Noakes* left Blue Peter all those years ago and it's still going.
*And yes I know he wasn't an original presenter but he did define the show.

For those who don't live in the UK you can find out about the longest running children's TV programme in the world at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_peter

You can't deny that the GT-R is an absolutely phenomenal car and every race has so far been won by Jeremy in whatever car he uses, (London race don't count). But for once i want to see James and Richard wipe the smug look of Jeremy's face once and for all and beat the car.

Default Top Gear Japan episode

From the preview i reckon that one of the episodes will just be all about Japan and part of that episode will be the big race. It will be like episodes with big races in them before:
-Part of the race at the beginning and then continued at the end of the episode.
What i aslo think will be thrown in is review of cars that are only in japan, because in the preview video of the new series because at 1:18 and 1:35 you see two unfamiliar cars on japanese numberplates. Not sure about 1:22, it seems like something the japanese would make.
So in all the Japanese episode will feature the big race and reviews of japanese cars.

You mean the two Mitsuoka cars?

I saw these two in the preview-

But I'd also be interested in seeing the Mitsuoka Le Seyde-

That's exactly the ones i mean, so one of them will review that super car one, the Mitsuoka Orochi and James seems to be doing what appears to be a chauffeur challenge in the one like a Bentley/Rolls-Royce, the Mitsuoka Galue 204; and the rest of the episode will be the race.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Mitsuoka are a Japanese motor company that create cars that are supposed to look like British cars of the 50s and 60s.
Well that's my theory anyway, it makes sense, if it turns out like that, who knows.
