Default TG Stuntman due to reappear?

The series 12 preview shows a car and caravan leaving a jump ramp, so looks like TGSM might be making the occasional appearance in future. Quite surprising given the mainly negative reaction to his introduction last series, but IMHO if he is used occasionally in a genuine attempt to break an existing or set a new record to put our favourite show into the Guinness book then what the hell.

I don't mind him being used very occasionally (once per series?) and for something that's really worthwhile, but it looked a little as if they were going back towards the earlier-series method of 'let's start the show by jumping stuff', which to be honest, I think is a step back rather than forward.

I think by combining the somewhat unsuccessful TGSM with a desire to destroy caravans Top Gear could be onto something amazing...

James May said to me "we didn't get some things right like Top Gear Stuntman so I doubt we'll be using him again".

But maybe he's back, better than ever!

TGSM (Top Gear S&M images/smilies/eek.gif) images/smilies/lol.gif Top Gear Stunt Man was way too homogenized and overdone. I can see how he would be good if there were a live crowd, or if they didn't try to have James make some stupid overdone buildup of suspense. None of the stunts were suspenseful at all, and having James show how it was constructed killed it even more. By the time it was all said and done, it was downright boring, and really, it shouldn't have been.

I think TGSM can and should return, but perhaps to Top Gear live, or during the actual Wednesday filming... that, and with things more like what Jeremy did, with driving the truck through a wall. Also, the vehicles or mode of transportation being used has to be more inventful, so that the stunt can actually contain a bit of excitement and allure.

I read somewhere that they filmed four stunts in about as many days at that airfield they went to. That leaves two that they may or may not show.

I just didn't get why he was necessary--I mean, they've already done plenty of stupid stunts on an airfield without the need for another character...
