TG team at Hinxton (Alfa challenge&something else)[with pics&vid]

CROWDS of people flocked to the Red Lion pub in Hinxton on Monday afternoon, after word got round that TV's Top Gear team were in town.

Villagers gathered outside the pub's car park at 4.45pm, digital cameras at the ready to photograph television's favourite trio.

The crowds were not kept waiting long, as just after 5pm, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May arrived in three Alfa Romeos.
That's the Alfas covered, here's the "something else":

Top Gear was in the area filming at Duxford Imperial War Museum, for a feature involving Aston Martins and Spitfire fighter planes.
    Astons and Spitfires?! It's a sound-off, surely.

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

It appears that, while in the area, they showed up at a chemists' workshop:

The workshop was briefly joined by petrol-heads Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. They quickly returned back to filming Top Gear after discovering Petrol was not considered to be a Chemical of Biological Interest

Anyone else surprised that James got a relatively new car. my bet is that the budget is £1500, you can pick up a GTV for that much - all be it a crap one.

That era GTV is already over 10 years old (came out in '95), and coupled with Alfa depreciation it may not be that hard to find one for that price. Condition? Different question.

    Whaaaat...

    That's a bargain.

Ignoring the £8,000 you'd need to keep it running.

The lady in some of those photos is Carolyn Grace, owner/pilot of a 2-seat Mk.9 Spitfire.

And the 8,000£ you lose in depreciation the second you buy it?
They should sell old Alfas with extra money to take them off your hands

You can't lose £8,000 in depreciation on a car you bought for £800 in the first place

The lads were spotted at the Italian Car Concourse in Stanford Hall yesterday (presumably with their Alfas),
