We were at Bonneville on Friday running our electric barstool so we got to meet Jeremy (he did a quick piece with us both before and during our last run of the day... hopefully it makes it to the show) and see the cars. Hammond & May were not around when we were there making our last run (just before 5). After our run we packed up our pit and came back and watched them make their runs on the short course. Based on the conversation between Clarkson and Hammond, the challenge was to see who could get closest to 100mph without going over on the 1 mile short course. After that, they headed over to the 7 mile long course for some runs. Having TG there was icing on the cake of an already fun day on the salt.

Top Gear in Reno, USA

My name is Bill K and I am from Reno.

Just to give you a little update on the ZR1, CTS-V and the Challenger.

The 3 cars were here in Reno for some minor mods before heading to the Salt Flats for some tests, A friend of mine was contacted my Top Gear to do the work and I was there first hand.

The work performed was to add driveline safety hoops and fire extingushers. Here are a few pictures of the cars at the shop, The first picture is me in the ZR1.

Sorry the quality isn't great, The light was really bad.

If you look close you can see all the camera stuff in the car windows.

The ZR1 has ceramic rotors

Wow, lucky!! I musta missed it, but you just happen to be at the salt flats or work near there 16vjohn? man, i am so envious! wow...isn't there a way we can all petition the UK dudes to come here and do a TG US version...instead of our own US? I can't wait a year for those UK episodes!

So the episode of UK Top Gear in the US testing these US musclecars will almost certainly make it to the air before US Top Gear in the US testing US cars does.

Thanks for linking rather than spoiling it. Much appreciated. I like to know what'll be in future episodes, but I don't actually know who will win the challenges, etc.

This has all the makings of an epic piece, as long as they take it just a tad more seriously and let the humour evolve naturally rather than forcing a load of pre-scripted cocking about on us. The road trips are usually good value though, the one through France being a particular fave of mine.

So does anyone have any idea what they might be up to in the San Francisco area this week?

A friend of mine says he saw the Top Gear crew in full effect exiting the Stockton/Sutter parking garage on Weds the 17th in San Francisco. Supposedly Clarkson was seen driving the new Camaro on Highway 1 in Marin County somewere around that date as well.
