two questions:
- whats the average viewer rating of TG vs. FG
- why did James replace Jason Dawe after the first season?

I saw some of the first season eps, Jason mainly did these bits on what dealerships were giving the biggest cash rebates for what cars.. Seemed too "practical" for the new top gear's image... his bits didnt quite fit in with the overall show..

Well Top Gear gets approx 3.5million viewers and 5th Gear gets approx 1.7million. But then not everyone in the UK can get Channel 5. So if it was possible for everyone to get it, then 5th Gear would get more viewers and probaly about the same ammount.

i should think they cut all that car pricing segment with Jason because it would not have as wide appeal and because it wouldnt work in re-runs very well... plus James is markedly better images/smilies/smile.gif

mmm, original TopGear! I recall the shows in the 90's with Jeremy "The Ego" Clarkson, Timothy "Tiff" Needel, and Quentin "Dodgy Ex-Car Salesman" Wilson images/smilies/biggrin.gif. Fantasic shows.

I get the odd feeling that Vicky (or is it Vicki?) Buttler-Henderson was part of the late 90's TG crew before she moved over to 5th Gear, but I could be wrong there.

It pained me that I could not get my dose of TG when it finished and when FG started as I didn't have Channel 5, I was rather happy when TG made a return to BBC2 images/smilies/smile.gif

I also have fond memories of the early 90's shows with William Woolard.

There's a pretty good wikipedia page on TG here images/smilies/smile.gif

If I remember correctly they raced eachother on one of Clarkson's videos, Clarkson in a Jaguar XJR and Tiff in a BMW M5 (the old one) images/smilies/smile.gif

I don't think JC and Tiff hate each other...they seemed rather friendly in Stars in Fast Cars when Tiff tryed to stall everyone in the car on car segment till JC came and Tiff let him have the first place with Jody Kidd.

BTW, I also think that Tiff would be a great guest on TG and he can set the first F1 lap time in the formula 1 board for the Chevy.

No it's just not everyone can recieve the signal. Through normal terrestrial I get a very poor Channel 5 signal but everone gets it through cable/dtr/sattelite.
