I think it's really funny that you say that because I had no idea he was into cars, but one of the mechanics where I usually get my car inspected looks just like him.

I never would have thought of Priestly as Hammond, but that's not bad. He hosted or narrated or whatever "Rides" on TLC.

Dennis Gage on the other hand is EXACTLY who I thought of for May. If they were to bring on a "celebrity" I think he would be the most plausible, being that he is known, but not to the point where it just seems cheesy that they brought someone of noteriety on.

fucking dumbass.

from most of these comments I don't think most poeple in this thread have seen work done by anyone we're talking about.
I guess the fact that all of young culture after WW2 wanted to be American had something to do with it. Hollywood HAS ruined many a good movie over the years. Though, made a couple of good too.

There are funny american shows, Simpsons, Futurama, That 70s Show and I might be tempted into putting South Park in there too.

But there are funny shows all over the world.

What you guys have, is marketing.

And please don't call me a moron and tell me it isn't true, because it is. You know it is.

Stay on topic of presenters.

Do a search on Top Gear USA and you will find plenty of threads that deal with the actual idea of a TG USA, one of which I practically wrote essays(that am quite proud of) many of those threads were lock because of ignorant and baseless comments, not because of me mind you images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

So again stay on topic!!!

Adam Carolla, Scott Speed as the stig, Darrell Waltrip or Tommy Kendall and Jay Leno.
Instead of a labradoodle, there's a junkyard mutt called top gear mutt.
The test track is an actual race track, mebbe laguna seca or the streets of willow springs.
And the set better not look like a redneck's garage.

Oh man, you're kidding, right? All I can think of when I see him is that lame excuse for a early 90's chick show "Beverly Hills 90210" images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

no one can be as crude, funny, and possibly racist as clarkson.... AND I LOVE IT! It would destroy top gear to make an american version, they just need to air it over here!

Adam Carolla for the win, he is the only person I can think of that would go off on the other presenters with the same energy as Clarkson.

He doesn't hold his tongue- good
He knows a bit about cars- good
He has plenty of experience being on the radio/tv- good
Hes considered a comedian- good
People don't like him- good

The main thing is to get people that know that they are talking about, as well as people that can have a good argument. Nobody wants to see some misinformed celebs having a argument while trying to think of words or being careful not to step on each others toes. Pick the right personalities, who cares who they are.

BTW: Blind_Io, his last name is Carolla, not Corolla. Get your facts straight, might also want to pick a different car while your at it, FJs look like an updated Aztek.

The similarity being that both James and Bill specialise in Light entertainment!

Carolla has one advantage. Like an artificial horizon, his uni-brow makes it easier to determine the lateral g's, pitch and yaw of the car when on the course. images/smilies/tongue.gif

It would be nice to have a US top gear, especialy if they have a yearly event competing with UK top gear team.

As for presenters I don't know many US regulars, I've seen leno talk about bikes before and he was really good, so I think that would be a good base.

There was an american chap who was racing in last years dakar who was doing really well until he blew his shocks in the 3rd stage. Sorry can't rember the name but he was really funny and tons of enthusiasm.

edit:: I think it might be GORDON ROBBY

Only problem I see with USTG is that the programme makers will get the usual fake titted bimbo on, who shouts all the time and is thicker than pig shit, just to appeal to the lowest common denominator (see junkyard wars for a good example). The second that happens there is no way back.

I hope it happens, but I hope the US make it their show not same pale imitation.

Ruu
