My girlfriend likes James over Richard and Jeremy any day. I think they'll keep the show just as it is (aside from minor changes & additions) until it starts to fail.

Why would they fix it if it aint broke?

How come we always see these threads "some presenter is leaving", "Some presenter is going to get replaced", "Some presenter is going to be turned into a duck"

Its really getting boring.

I just watched 11x02 and I am tying to figure out why this thought even vaguely crossed your mind.

Where else would they have put him?

The whole TGSM thing was his. And I think I have decided I like that part just because of it. Maths are his type thing as we have seen before and stunt work deals with calculations.

What are you doing? Counting how many lines and how many minutes each are on screen?

That is not how top gear works and I don't want it to work like that either.

James looks much happier this time around than last season. When we got that cut out clip of the news where he was talking about that black mood where you don't think your life has turned out like you wanted was like speaking from the soul. If I was going to worry he was going to leave, it would have been last season. So far this season, almost everytime you see him he is laughing or smiling. I even think his eyes look brighter. Look at him behind Hammond at the end this week. I really doubt that would have happened last season. I think it is possible he is on some type of medication, which is not a problem with me in anyway. Some people benefit from it. I can't say James is, but I know my boyfriend went from never smiling, to constantly smiling. ANd he is alot easier to live with now too.

James has been very active in the news section. What more do you think he should be doing?

I am sure a car review will come up for him.

And in case this seems like I studied James, I didn't. I also noticed Richard has gained his weight back and looks more back to himself than last season. And Jeremy seems to have lost weight.

Mmm... honestly I dont think theyll get rid of May...

There is to much of a chemistry among the presentors to replace any of them, plus the producers realize that he has far too many fans to can him

You need May! He has the old charm that is missing from Clarkson and Hammond. I mean he is real..while Jezza and Hammond are kind of on the bandwagon...just me 2 cents.

This goes for TopGear as a show in general, but i'd rather have 1 great James review then 5 mediocre ones, and to be honest he is only excellent when he has a car that he is genuinely interested in or critical of. I personally don't think James is going anywhere, but if it helps you sleep at night, you can sign me up as somebody who likes him as much as Clarkson. Hammonds a good guy and all, but JM and JC are two people i would love to actually talk to, and i'm not really into celebrities, so if that means anything then "wahoo".

i think that when May decides to leave, or they make him leave, that then Top Gear will stop. And that's my biggest concern, this season only has 6 episodes, can we confirm a season 12? Or will the show be cancelled? This because the new boys from America/Australia are coming....

I think James brings balance to the show, and makes it watchable by viewers who are not really into cars.

Skylock, you made some great observations in your post, thanks images/smilies/smile.gif Although Richard has regained his lovely little tummy, his jeans during Ep1 Police Car segment were practically hanging off him images/smilies/lol.gif

I did notice James was very smiley during Ep1. I am yet to watch Ep2 but will be doing so tonight, and I will look out for your observations.

Team Garmin regroup and relax
Jun 26, 2008 2:58:04 AM |

Tuesday 24th June

The team arrived in Inverness safely by road and started preparing for the next leg from Inverness to Edinburgh. Jeff Hunton, Iain May, Nick Knowles and James May have all been in high spirits from the outset regardless of any complications faced. The guys took full advantage of thier time in Inverness to soak up the race atmosphere with their fellow competitors and the Scottish locals.

We wish the team all the best for the next leg.

My guess is Cpt Slow is keeping a lower profile now in preparation of the big moment of the series, the battle against ZE GERMANS!!! And since he has a pilot's license, he might fly one of the WWII fighters that we saw in the preview. Who knows?

Well, yes, he hasn't been involved that much, but it's always been a bit that way. He's probably been busy with other things lately.

Besides, him and Clarkson work brilliantly together. I mean, the car controls bit, and even in the (probably) running gag of the Dacia bit in the news, I just get some sort of chemistry between them..

Oh damn.

Over-analysis FTL. I doubt James is going anywhere, nor do I see any reason for people to think otherwise.

I absolutely feel that May's reviews are the most substantive. His most recent review of the new Jag is one of the few pieces from last season that I remember with clarity. I hope they're going to step up his role more this season because he has a lot to contribute.
