Hey! I've had the No. 17 pizza at Dvor in Ljubljana! It was actually a local who took me there - one of my oldest friends I've known since 4th grade. He's actually a bit of a car nut - he has a vintage MB 300SL, a Jag XK8 (maybe he sold it), a chipped BMW330tdi (he totalled his M3 in a tunnel) and a few other cars...

I never imagined so many ppl come to Ljubljana ... It's not much of a tourist attraction. Can't really compete with other European capital cities. It's a rather good place to live though. BTW: My ex lives 50m from Dvor ... Her place was my second home for more than 2 years.

Aston Martin are aparently only doing a manual version to start with. Maybe an auto later depending on how sales are going.
It seems like the 911 is still the better car which is disapointing, I really wanted the V8 Vantage to be better and it has most of the stats in it's favour. It has 50/50 weight distribution, special lightweight construction (although it's still heavy), bigger engine (not a great power output by todays standards though), and a lot of development. Sounds like it is still very good though. That engine is slightly dissapointing too. There are a few V8s around 4L now, F430, new RS4 (I think?), new M3, maybe a couple I am forgetting, and the all have power outputs of at least 100hp/L. The V8 Vantage is about 88hp/L. Aston |

.The Vantage is supposed to be aimed at the 911 and to some extent so are the new M3 and RS4 so they are all going to be competing. The Vantage will look a little weaker going by the specs, hopefully in real life it is up to the challenge. Maybe there will be some Works upgrades .Aston |

But, as I've said before on this forum, I suck at manual. They mentioned nothing of this when I booked a test drive....then again I didn't ask and neither did they. I guess they just presumed that if I want one I can drive a manual. 8) |

...In the mean time just go test drive some crappy car that has a manual. I did that with a friend of mine once, he wanted to buy a manual so when he test drove it I gave him lessons on the spot. Or just find a friend who will let you smoke the clutch on his/her car.

As I've said, I can drive a manual, in an emergency or not above 60kmph. I have trouble starting (bunny hops ahoy!) and I just don't have the confidence to drive faster as I have to think ahead to what I am doing and what I want to do. In traffic and at high speed I always panic and get the wrong gear! I can just see taking the Aston and stalling and hopping then getting it on the highway, panicing hitting the wrong gear and dropping the gearbox out the bottom of the car. I wonder if they will make me buy it then? "You break it, you bought it".

To me it sounds so absurd that some people can´t drive manual. Nothing personal, just a cultural thing.

Even today, after thousands of kilometers behind me, I need a few minutes to get used to the clutch when driving a car I've never driven before.

^^ A bit of a sporty start will do... I'd rather leave some marks before stalling a car...
Never had a problem in any car, so far. Buba

All the cars I've ever driven have been automatics, so I've never had a car to practice on. Everybody I know who has a manual has a car that they don't want me breaking the gearbox of.
I learnt to drive manual to the level I have reached in a truck on a beach...probably not the same as an Aston!
