Default Clarkson 'threatened' 12 year old boy

I couldn't find this anywhere else:

Jeremy Clarkson threatened to "hunt down" a 12-year-old boy who took his picture while he was on holiday in Barbados.

The Top Gear host reacted in fury after he was snapped by youngster Tom Dickman when he was asleep on a beach.

Clarkson confronted the boy on the day after the picture had been taken. He ranted: "Are you the little f***er that took my picture? If you do that again or it goes on the internet I will hunt you down and rip your f***ing head off." Tom then burst into tears and sought comfort from his father.

"I saw it all happen," Tom's dad Chris told the Sunday Mirror. "Tom was a huge fan of Top Gear and Clarkson was his hero. He watched the show every week and even asked me to buy him the DVDs for Christmas and birthdays.

"He was so proud when he come back the day before to show me his little digital camera and say, 'I've just taken a picture of Jeremy Clarkson'. I was made up for him - he only took the picture to show his mates at school that he'd really seen his hero on his holiday. But Clarkson's reaction was out of order. He utterly humiliated and scared my son."

Chris complained to the BBC, which broadcasts Top Gear, about the matter. However, a spokesman told the family: "Mr Clarkson was on a private holiday."

"I was disgusted by the BBC's response," Chris complained. "Who the hell does Clarkson think he is?"

Well he was on a private holiday, but that seems a bit too much.

"Was so proud" and "his little digital camera" make it sound like the kid was 5 years old, not 12. Chances are by that age swearing won't be anything new to him. And with the speed they've sold their story to the papers, sounds like JC was right to be concerned he would try and sell the pics.

Yeah, I agree but I also think there is more to this story we are not hearing.

Personally I think my son would be more upset to find he was described in a newspaper as a 12 year old who "burst into tears and sought comfort from his father." than being cursed at by an old man.

I just couldn't help but laugh.

And that kid had no right to take his picture. If I were him, I would wait for him to wake up and ask for his autograph.

And now I know why Jeremy didn't do his Sunday Times articles for a couple of weeks. He's on vacation. He seems to like Barbados; he's been there multiple times now.

Some more to the story:

The families were staying at next-door hotels - the Dickman's at the £150-a-night Colony Club and Clarkson and his family at the £200-a-night Coral Reef Club - when Tom snapped the TV presenter on the beach.

The next day Clarkson approached Tom, swearing and threatening him before heading off jet-skiing with his own three children. When he returned from the trip Tom's dad confronted him. "I was furious, like any father would be," he said. "I went over and told him, 'Clarkson, if you've got a problem with my son, take it up with me'. But he refused to apologise and just shuffled off."

The family complained about Clarkson to the BBC - but a spokesman would only say: "Mr Clarkson was on a private holiday."

Chris said: "I was disgusted by the BBC's response. Who the hell does Clarkson think he is?" And Tom vowed: "I used to think Top Gear was great - but I won't watch it ever again."

Father-of-three Clarkson, 47, would not comment.

If they were true fans of TG they'd recall SIARPC with Hugh Grant.

"I've KILLED BEFORE! And my wife goes 'What have you killed before?'"

You should really ask a person before you take their picture... kind of obvious really. Poor and idiotic parenting on their part.

You have obviously missed the current parenting motto of the decade. Which seems to be, "My kid doesn't do anything wrong. And if anybody points out that they think they did, you are a mean evil person and should be strung up at first light."

I agree with you btw. I would have told my kid he had done something stupid to ask for forgiveness and not to do it again.

The old adage of they have to touch the stove to understand it is hot has been replaced with never even telling them it is hot, but to watch them at all ties so they never touch the stove.

edit: I should have said and if they ever do get burnt by the stove to sue the stove maker for making it hot in the first place. LOL

No you're absolutely right sky, I have seen that so much. Mothers outraged at older people for yelling at their undisciplined child... it's just illogical.

Its just disciplining and takes 5 seconds to do. It's just common sense... discipline your kid... how lazy can you get, you know?

Instead of "dad" telling Jeremy if he had a problem with junior he could take it up with him (dad), he should have been apologiing for what junior had done in the first place and assuring him it would not happen again.

It would embarrass me enough if my kid was told off for something like that and I sure would not want the whole counrty to know about it.

And then to think the BBC "owns" Jeremy and is responsible for his actions in private life just brands these people as stupid from the get go.

AND if the little twerp only wanted a picture to show his mates, it seems he would have wanted one of himself standing beside Jeremy smiling, not a "potentially" embarrassing picture of a sleeping man.

Besides, maybe Jeremy had taken one of the little pills he wrote about that I posted in another thread.

I dont get what this has to do with parenting or what not. The kid took a photo of someone in a public place (public in the sense anyone standing around could look), and the person just so happen to be someone of importance, in this case Clarkson. The kid did not run up to him and tried to kick him or etc. It really has nothing to do with parenting really as I dont see any really that bad the kid did.

Clarkson being a TV and writing star should expect a lower threshold of privacy like other public figures. I remember when he wrote about the whole incident with the kids trying to mess him and how if he had done anything videos of him would be everywhere. Its just the normal life of a star that your going to have photos taking of you if you pick to be somewhere a bit public.

Now I think if the kid was really a fan maybe he would have gone up to Clarkson and asked for a photo and maybe an autograph and things would have gone smoother, but, I guess the kid did not think he would get the response from Clarkson that he got. Also Clarkson should have expected by acting the way he did the story was going to make the papers one way or another.

Maybe its a bit of British papers playing things up, but IMHO I dont see how the parents can be blamed and if anything Clarkson is in the wrong.

The bad parenting part comes in to play with how it was handled by dad. The kid done something not out of the ordinary for a kid to do, but for some reason made Jeremy mad in doing so. Instead of dad saying I'm sorry you got yelled at but there are better ways to do what you did, he confronts Jeremy then runs whinning to the press AND wants the BBC to get involved.

Jeremy probably should have just apologized for his part in it right from the beginning, but he was not the one who started it in the first place.

I am not saying what Jeremy did was right, just that the way dad is handling it is wrong.
