Default Episode 100

Being the sad git I am - I've been trying to put together my own TG episode guide (upyourego.com/topgear) and in the process noticed (and yes I'm sure everyone else has already noticed this ahead of me) that the next series is going to see the hundredth episode of the new format Top Gear.

Assuming TG:12 starts in mid October and the series doesn't have to stop mid-way for some sporting bollocks - episode 100 should be on tv around the second week of November.

So what do you think they should do for episode 100? Something special? A big party? A stunt involving 100 caravans being set on fire one after another? Or maybe just not mention it at all and treat it like any other episode?

What do you think?

I doubt they will recognise it, but it would be funny to see a proper TG celebration.

I reckon Wilman will read this, realise the 100th episode is coming up, and when we see it there will be a really flippant sarcastic comment from Clarkson and then they'll just get on and do a normal show.

Probably.

I suppose they could get Harry Enfield to do another go as the SIARPC but as he hasn't done diddley squat since his first appearance I doubt they'd do that. They could always do some kind of piss take of old Top Gear and former presenters, although since VBH and Needles are still doing Fifth Gear that might be tricky and since series 2-10 are repeated endlessly on Dave there's little point in any compilation footage as we will probably only have seen it anyway the previous week.

I reckon they'll ignore it and carry on as normal.

Yeah the ignore and carry on as normal approach was the one that struck me as most likely as well to be honest - although a special stunt involving 100 would be cool.

Anyway - not defending old Harry or anything but he has been doing a fair bit since his last appearance.

He reunited with Paul Whitehouse to bring a new version of the Harry Enfield Television show back in 2007 (although it had some funny sketches it didn't go down that well), he also stared as Dirk Gently in the Radio 4 adaptation of the Douglas Adams classic, is working on something else with Paul Whitehouse and plays the father of Tony in Skins (and is directing a few episodes).

They should fire G-Wizes into Caravans to celebrate the 100th episode or maybe extinct some kind of animal. j/k

How about re-doing some of the epic fails to make them wins - fastest caravan in the world springs to mind, oh and giving Sabine that fast VW van to do her ring lap in 10 mins perhaps?

I am sure that there were some others.

How about make a Prius do 100 mph or some other such silly prank involving unlikely vehicles.

Probably just get on with it as has been said tho'.

This is really anal, but are you counting the Polar Special and Winter Olympics as episodes?

No - only episodes that were part of a normal series - they were both out of the normal series run so aren't included - but even if they were episode 100 would still fall in series 12.

Here is an excel guide I threw together with text from the Wikipedia Top Gear Episodes page to help me put together my own guide (with a quick description of each episodes).

Well they should do something that's very Top Gear.

My idea is, Build a rocket (again), as a spaceshuttle get a G-Wiz. Hammond + rocket goes to the middle of the North Pole using specially trained North Pole Transport Alligators and starts building the launch pad and all that stuff.

Jeremy and James try to deliver him materials in "Modified for North Pole" Enzo and Fiat Panda. Then they make a Zappelin with Gordon Brown's face on it, and get right to the North Pole. While PPL from Poland finish building their launch site, back in Britian, they have a challenge, - build the Amphibious Jet-powered car. After they are done, everything moves to north pole, and, while on the track around the launch site Hammond races some badgers in a new Mazda. Jeremy and James launch the thing, right into the Zappelin, then the G-Wiz separates from the rocket, and then the launch the jet powered car verticly to hit that G-Wiz.

Not only it will look good, they would also prove once and for all, that a G-Wiz dropped from a rocket hitting a Zappelin on the north pole, offers ZERO protection in a mid-air collision with Jet-powered amphibous car EVEN over international waters.

All of that filmed, with cutbacks every 5 minutes to Giant Blue Neon Flashing statue of Freddy Mercury in James's appartment.

They should celebrate episode 101 instead, and point out that they couldn't be bothered to do anything special for the actual 100th episode.

Default 100th Episode

Nice cake!

* * *

For the 100th episode, here are some options:

Option A – Unlikely
a) Have a really surprising, top celeb. for SIARPC
b) Lots of silly 100 based things, as suggested above.

Option B – Possibly
a) News Section : Announcement of Top Gear America + Australia
b) Have Steve Corolla for SIARPC.

Option C –Probably
Do nothing, well maybe have Harry Enfield again, as discussed above.

* * *

However, BBC Four could do a Top Gear themed night.
They could knock together a low cost, talking heads documentary with JC, JM, RH and AW.
The typical thing where an interviewer asks the team, “what was favourite moment, worst moment …?” etc., with clips to illustrate. Wouldn't cost too much.
Add on couple of old episodes and voila – A Themed Night!
(Press release for BBC Four 2008 Autumn Schedule is not available yet. )

* * *

They should do something, it is BBC2’s best & biggest show.

Haha yeah if thats all the mention their Emmy got on the show, I'm sure the 100th episode will be exactly the same.
