Wouldn't, y'know, WAITING UNTIL THE SERIES WAS FINISHED be a good idea, rather than prompting people to participate prematurely?

[Ideally, you should wait until at least a fortnight past the last episode of 2008 before even starting the poll, to at least alleviate the "last episode" factor.]

I am just trying to set up the infrastructure for the FG Awards 2008.

Edit: Besides, I see nothing wrong with voting a bit early. Some people have already formed a strong opinion on a certain ep.

Cart before horse, yes? It's like the way ITV usually make sure to put their "top-rated shows of the year" out in early December, because they know the BBC does disproportionately well around Christmas time and it shoves their shows down several places.

Basically, anyone who votes now and then really, really likes the Vietnam Special is screwed in your system (you can argue it would be their own fault, but it's a situation that shouldn't be allowed to arise). And, on the other hand, anyone who likes the Vietnam Special and votes while it's fresh in their mind may regret it later. Ergo, waiting a period between the last show of the year and the opening of any poll. An "of the year" poll shouldn't appear until mid-way through January the following year.

BTW, my favourite episode of that list is [12x02] American Road Trip II. How is not watching James May overtake Jezza not the coolest thing evaaarrrr

I have no problem with that, but I'll leave that your call. I just thought I would give people the opportunity to vote if they really want to. I disagree with the "fresh in your head, so wait a fortnight", but otherwise that's fine.

I think that this thread has encouraged me to re-watch ALL of these episodes, you know for research, instead of studying for finals!

At this point I have got to say the Bullet Train episode was an epic, and the second American road trip is a solid second for me.

12x02 followed closely by 12x04. Although 12x06 was very good as well... My vote could be changed with the last two eps of the season though.

What difference does it make? What he's written down doesn't go into any detail. A TV guide synopsis or TV commercial would be 'worse' than that; do you not read the TV guide or watch TV commercials?

yeah, not only that, now we may have spoiled some of the last episodes for some people...

this is way way WAY too early

just to clarify, I like this idea, Infact I think it's great. But the soonest polls like this should be held is at the end of the last episode

I would suggest that we should send the Top Gear team an award for the winning episode. Should be something cheap and rubbish though to remain classic Top Gear style

What's the point if Top Gear is the only candidate? You can't send an ep an award. Maybe if we were to do a "Best Top Gear Presenter of 2008". Then we would send Clarkson, Hammond, or May an award for winning.
