Default Genesis box set sleeve note

You may recall Hammond's Deff Leppard album appearance, and now it's Jeremy's turn to do something similar. He will be amongst the guest sleeve note writers for a new Genesis box set, out on November 10.

http://www.nme.com/news/genesis/39274

A couple of things:

a) do you think this means a member of Genesis will be on TG in the next series?
b) what would be an appropriate album appearance for James? images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I reckon Peter Gabriel would be a cool guest but since he's quite into the whole earth thing I doubt he'd do it. Collins is too up himself and I wouldn't want to see him on the show and I get the impression Banks and Rutherford would just be a bit dull.

Yes, I used to listen to Genesis a lot in my teens OK? I'm over it now.

Dunno about James - he'd only write sleeve notes for something classical, but I can imagine some new Indie band adopting him as a kind of Cool Uncle or something and putting him on the cover of an album, perhaps entitled "Oh, Cock!"

Saw Genesis on the Lamb Lies Down on Braodway tour about 75 at Wembly one of the last shows with Gabriel. Well I like them anyhoo'. (Old Cobol74 geezer has spoken). James has a good play list, way to go on the J S Bach!

I'm a big Genesis fan images/smilies/cool.gif

Of course, I prefer albums like Selling England by the Pound to Invisible Touch and forwards images/smilies/wink.gif

+1. Instrumental section of "Firth of Fifth" - as good as any Bach Fugue IMHO. Must also confess a soft spot for "Trick of the Tail" and "Wind and Wuthering" - they were still writing tracks with stories on those but after that it all started to slide a little. Also got bootleg cassettes somewhere of the Milton Keynes gig in '82; Gabriel was hilarious on that one.

"So" was released in '86......I think "Games Without Frontiers" from PG4 came out in '82.

But it was a one-of thing they did. Seem to recall Hackett was involved too, but as I can't be bothered to click the Wiki link you'll have to confirm for yourself.

What a road you've travelled to go from punk to internet dweeb on webforum for pokey motoring programme on BBC2!!!!

At least we current and former Genesis* fans were destined to get here - it's the path fate had mapped out for us all along - where did you go wrong? images/smilies/wink.gif

*And probably Level 42 fans as well come to think of it - all '42 fans are geeks since the song "Micro Kid" in '83. I know 'cos I'm one of them too!

Agreed. I scorn my dad whenever he tells me about the ninety thousand concerts he's seen of them. The solo concert of Gabriel when only a few hundred went, and when they were actually good.

I hate being my age. I went to the TIOA tour, and expected some sort of 'Trick Of the Tail-esque' stuff, but naaaah. Abacab and Domino! *dies* images/smilies/mad.gif

The road less travelled? That'll be the B1007 between Basildon and Horndon on the Hill then?

According to Clarkson we are all internet dweebs here. I'm such an internet dweeb I just went on streetmap to find an obscure B road to include in the previous comment!!!!!

As for '42 don't knock ole' Thunderthumbs and his chums! And thanks for the reminder. I've got some Pere Ubu somewhere - must dig it out and put it on. It'll drive Mrs Hersworksfinetoo up the wall. Serves her right for playing Abba at me.

I must admit I haven't listened to much of the post-Gabriel stuff, after Lamb Lies Down I go straight to Gabriel's solo stuff (it helps that he had started out with the phenomenal Robert Fripp and Tony Levin as part of his band).
