Default Hammond's Morgan AeroMax

Hi Guys,

nothing really important, but I watched the motoring show "Grip" on the German channel RTL2 on Sunday, and the Presenter Matthias Malmedie tested the Morgan AeroMax and thrashed it around on an airfield. He then visited the Morgan factory and a car being assembled was shown...he then said "it turns out this very Morgan belongs to a famous customer, it's Richard Hammond, my colleague from the BBC who presents the show Top Gear. Seems like he's got a bit more money than I do!"

So let's see how long until Hamster can get his new toy images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I had a week at a Morgan garage for work experience, and they said that basically the whole company is very happy that someone famous (Hammond) has chosen their cars (Roadster and Aeromax).

The owner of the place (called Keith images/smilies/lol.gif) said that it handled exactly like the Aero 8, but has a roof. Thats the only difference apparently...

Sorry but Morgan make some of the worst looking cars on the market. I really don't get what Hammond sees in them. In the immortal words of Jezza...

"Bloody nearly fell out of it. I swear Hammond, sometimes I don't understand that boy" - 3x07

Like Jeremy also said "It's a Marmite car." I'm with 'Slow and the Hamster on the Aeromax - I think it looks great especially since they've got rid of the cross-eyed look of the front lights. If "Dark Knight" has been made in the decade Batman was created ie the 1940's, that's what Bruce Wayne would've been driving instead of that LP640. Might even have qualified as the Batmobile.

I think it looks good too...it's something different. And it looked quite good on the airfield, but i reckon they had to change the rear tyres after that images/smilies/biggrin.gif The presenter also liked it very much, he said it's very fun to drive and sounds awesome, but also very tricky when pushed to the limit, they showed a montage of every time he spun it on the track (and he is a racing driver). He said if he just could afford it (and if all of them weren't sold already images/smilies/cry.gif) he'd walk straight to the next Morgan Dealer and buy it.

The Aeromax is one of the coolest cars on sale today. If you haven't already, I recommend watching these two videos from Drivers Republic

This is a review of the Aeromax
http://www.drivers-republic.com/dr_t...&area=features

This is a 45 minute video of Chris Harris talking to the owner of Morgan and give an extensive factory tour.

Sorry my post above wasn't the most articulate post ever.
They are marmite cars for sure, but I do have to admit I like some of the interior details (apart from that nasty steering wheel) and those crazy back windows are funky as you like.

With you on that one. I'd be talking to the factory and getting the spoked one from the Aero 8 that Hammond tested a fwe years back. That and praying nightly that I never crashed since I'd then have no airbag.

Dammit, I was hoping of pics of the beast itself - I'm not usually a Morgan fan, but the Aeromax is fantastic.

Your quite right there. It would finish the cabin off much better with the wheel from the Aero 8.

I'll give Morgan there due. At least they have bothered to try and design something like no other car. I guess it's just a modern take on the classic open top British sports car of the 1930's and 40's.

Have to admit those funky back windows that open outwards is a really nice touch.

The details found on even the Aero 8 can't be matched by other very expensive sports cars. Even Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche have largely gone mainstream. You can tell Morgan spends a lot of time on each car.
