I was just watching the RS4 episode, which Jeremy loved, which made me want one even more. This got me wondering if anyone has purchased a car based on a Top Gear review or one of Jeremy's articles?
If so, did it match his review? |

I have to admit, the Smart Roadster beeing ennobled as "proper sportscar" and "the coolest car in here", helped me to determine whether to buy one or not.

Another interesting question: Did Top Gear ever make sure you DIDN'T buy a car?

The only kind of car I would take JC's opinion on is a sport car, with the rest he plays around but when it comes to sports cars we usually have the same taste it seems...

It's let down by his gearbox a bit, but it's not that bad like they said, especially for a normal driver who isn't used to BMW or Ferrari flappy-paddled-gearbox. At least it works in normal road-use, because it's basically an automatic, with paddles attached. Besides being not a proper gearbox in Clarksons eyes, paddle-shifting is just big fun. The only thing they were wrong about, is the space. They never mentioned that it's got a second trunk under the frontbonnet, where you can easily put one of these in: ![]() What they did, is like walking towards a DB9, opening the bonnet and complaining that there is no space for your shopping because of that V12. Nick Mason said, in his quest sundar times article, that Jeremy seems to actually try his best at knowing everything about all the cars he reviews, he doesn't usually just yell about them for fun, atleast until he has something real to yell about
![]() JC kinda makes me not want to buy a Porsche, i think as cars their wonderful, and i think he agrees, but i also agree as a social apparatus, or a style statement their about as bad as a sports car can get (original 1950s porsches not withstanding that last statement, i love my 356s!) for me i can blame it on the marketing , i also hate the way german cars are seemingly "engineered" to be impossible to work on

really for me its the looks as well, i could get over the fact you cant access the engine from teh top if the car was a piece of art, but its just not, i have had love affairs with porsches before, saying they lack "passion" is the daftest thing ive ever heard, but saying their styling is the least you can get is dead on

Even though many of the cars they review aren't for sale here, watching TG has definately made me think about getting a car that's fast and sporty.

Even though I can't get any of them right now, after any episode I look up the prices for a Lexus IS 350, Lotus Exige, or an Audi RS4. I will have one......someday.

Both vehicles we were looking at are beloved by TG
We were looking at getting a LR3 or a XC90, but ended up getting the LR3. It's amazing! Just wish they would bring the diesel ones over here, cause this thing is *THIRSTY*!

yea welecom nnordrum=D...congrats on the LR3(it looks sexi in white), a friend of mine got one last summer it is SICK!! did you guys get the V8 or V6?
and yes i think JC's reviews has fed my want for certain cars RS4, a good example and hopefully the LP640 when we see it ...ive also gave my opinions to others i know who were looking for new cars, like with my friend i mentioned above I told them to look at the XC90 and LR3 as serious options (mentioned the RX330, but top gear hasnt reviewed that=P)

Good luck with the LR3. I know a couple good forums if, er, when you need technical assistance.
