How much is Suzuki paying May?!

Don't you think James May likes the Suzuki Swift a bit too much. This last sundays episode he plugged it again It was bad enough him plugging it so much in that episode a year or so back. Wasn't his line something like "I like the new Zonda, but i'm still drawn to the Suzuki Swift, i mean it does have 100bhp"

I rather think its a running gag. Apart from that, I actually am with him, thinking that the new, hot Swift is closer to the original Mini than the actual new Mini itself is.

We've got an "ordinary" Swift, and it's a great little car. Haven't tried the Sport, but judging by what they started with, it should be every bit as good as they make it to be

And it looks great in black

its a beautiful little machine, i would buy one over the mini anyday.... went to see the sporty version at the suzuki dealer the otherday and it looks really slick at the front. granted the blacked out A-pillars are mini-esque but its still a better looking car.

and another plus is, it wont be bought by the ipod wearing metrosexuals who buy the mini simply as a wardrobe extension.

Suzuki should sell the Swift here in the US. Unless I'm behind the times, doesn't GM still own Suzuki? The Chevy Aveo is not what you would call a desirable small car, why not sell the Swift in the US instead.

The Honda Fit is said to be a great little car along with the Toyota Yaris, but i like how the Swift looks the best. I don't think it would be outclassed if it was sold in the same price range

I doubt anything can out class the Swift...My mom has one and it's just a brilliant little car. We took it on a trip with a 5 hour drive in each direction couple weeks ago and it was so very comfortable still, I truely love that car. And if they would sell the sport here I would probably buy one.

Maybe the Swift will come over here if the Astra does well. I wouldn't mind having either car.

Yea thought about a Swift for my eldest daughter in a couple of years, get a 5 door, (emergency family use assured) couple of years old, my one worry is that the secret is out and the usual Suzuki depreciation will be lessened.

Jeremy says in his times column even he preferts the Swift sport to the new Mini.

So yes, they are biased but nothing proves that they are corrupt journalists.

Can't see why it would be so unthinkable that he really likes the car without being paid...

It's a good thing they are making a cracking little car that finally makes Suzuki a good car name as well as motorbikes.

It was just a bit of a gag. I liked it, it was kind of cute. I think they also have a good relationship with Suzuki after being allowed to use the liana.

I saw one of the new liana's, it looked good. Kind of like the new Astra without stigma.

I was hoping the new swift was going to be the next reasonably priced car, I suppose it's a bit too good.

I agree with James though, if I needed a small car, it's would be my first choice I think. mini is a trendi mobile and not very practicle, especially the soft top my mum has. It completely lost all the genius the first model had.

It's good to know suzuki's car division has caught up with the rest of itself. They make cracking bikes, good 4x4's and now finally a top small car. Good work Suzuki!!

Only bad thing I heard about it, is that it has a low gearing meaning it's quite noisy at higher speeds.

Short stack transmission is a bad thing?!?!? Not all cars need to cruise in the fast lane at low rpm. Heck, do you really want to be in a Swift at high speeds?

I'm would like a shorter ratio LSD diff for my car... mmmm sweet sweet acceleration.
