This is according to his column in TG magazine this month. times refer to the bugatti race

Clarkson follows a rangerover tracking car and they don't pull over for anything except fuel

meanwhile may and hammond do as much as they can to beat him.

once the race is over, the director retraces their steps and adds to the tracking shots with "arty ups and passes"

then the editing takes place. according to this the bugatti race took 33 16 hour days to edit

just cos I know you lot were wondering. there was also a bit on the studio days. but you can wait for the scans to appear for that :p

they have always been real ..
(i know the SLR vs boat thing was 100% real)

PS: i also know that the first powerboat they used was far from the best they where offerd..
but they turnd the best one down.. so the races are real .. but RIGD!

If the races are real... what can I say, they should maybe fake the endings. The DB9 was believable, the 612 was really exciting near the end and the SLR seemed a little pre-planned. The Veyron on the other hand seemed so orchestrated...

I belive that clarky in the veyron race lost this event, and they just filmed a smug end to cover the real facts

I think it was $16AUD but as I mentioned in my initial post, this was one of those "air-freight" mags you can only get at airports and you pay a premium for them.
