I kinda quiver when I think of seeing Jeeza's face in HD.

Seriously though, this is great news. It makes me think of that shot in the Wiesmann review of the roadster coming down the runway in front of a setting sun with snow drifting down. To have seen that in HD would have been perfect.

Well the smaller one will still be offered by the sounds of it. You'd just miss out on all that nutricious HD goodness, thats all.

I agree. The quality of the in-car shots has been rubbish lately.

Looking forward to HD.

I will, of course, get the standard definition ones when they come out so I can watch them immediately (unless the HD becomes available quickly), and then download the HD for archival purposes. I wan the 1080p 8 gig Polar Special goodness every week.

Time to buy stock in Seagate...

Funny that Hammond, at the age of 38, is worried about looking old.

I will probably get the HD rips, how could I resist? But I'd be much more comfortable downloading the 1GB 720p rips, which I'm guessing TG won't get because it's runtime is actually an hour and not 42 minutes.

I hope there'll still be 700MB rips to grab it quickly.

I need bigger HDD and HD TV and I really liked to have one DVD disk per season.

Lost and all that lot has been aired in 720p for a long while and you still get 700mb rips fairly quick after airing.

^ Really? HR rips are becoming less and less frequent... none of the shows I download get 700mb HR rips with any frequency.

Mind you the Top Gear 700mb rips aren't technically HR rips since the BBC doesn't show advertisements.

its destiny i tell you, 2 weeks after i get my new 500GB hard drive, top gear is going to be broadcast in HD. Oh, and Clarkson may not be the best person for HD, but those hilarious faces he pulls will look better

As you probably know, I'm usually the first to moan about HD and all that.

Having said that, I recently got an HD (720p) copy of the Polar Special, and compared to the normal 350mb rip, oh boy. What a difference. It looks amazing.

Now, I maintain that on my TV at home I can't notice a huge difference.

But here, on my laptop, it's as clear as day.

So, to sum up, a FinalGear top tip - buy and commission a super big Hard Drive in time for the new Top Gear so that you can get your TG fix in lovely super High Definition.

700MB for SD, 1.0-1.5GB for the 720p (probably about 1.4), and no clue about the 1080p (the Polar Special was 7GB, but that seems much too large).
