Default jeremy clarkson and the automat kalashnikov

after several remarks towards his ak-47 on top gear and in hos columns he apparently even brought it to the recent camping trip.
is that thing for real? aren't they illegal in britain?
in germany, even if it was a semi-auto conversion, you wouldn't be allowed to own one because it looks like a war piece. and you surely wouldn't be allowed to openly take it on a camping trip.
yet jeremy even displays it on top gear.

I'm willing to bet it's just a prop. I recall him talking about "his" AK in the past, during one of the celebrity interviews. Then again, Clarkson has been known to create white lies from time to time for entertainment purposes.

I'm pretty sure that it is a decommisioned weapon. I know that you can collect military weapons in the UK as long as they are not working.

Its perfectly legal as long as you have the proper licence for it which aren't that difficult to get hold of as long as you have no criminal record and can prove why you need it (ie member of a gun club).
I would assume that its a prop on the camping however as that wouldn't go down well wioth the police unless they knew beforehand.

First time with a guest, talking about how he took off the top of it, and then wasn't able to put it back in, so that he couldn't shoot a theif.

Second time, he had it with him in the caravan episode.

I wonder if he keeps it at his home on the Isle of Man?

Let's hear it for the Second Ammendment! Wooo! Oh, right, I live in California, we only do the First Ammendment out here - and that's only if they like what you say.

He also was shot once in London with an AK47 images/smilies/wink.gif . Got a hole in his Mercedes SL backwindow and he complained about how it cost a trillion Pounds to replace because of heatsensors and ariels and the glue had to set for a night. (Then Richard and James said it might dry quicker in front of a gay nightclub coz for some reason the SL is gay)

a bit off-topic but if the fire wasn't on purpose you would hear the cameramen shouting and bringing fire extinguishers and stuff like that but for some mysterious reason they had the camera exactly where they should've been and took perfectly stable footage of everything. so i think it's definitley planned.

*sigh* sarcasm must be a talent. Of course it was staged, I've never seen anything so contrived looking in my life!

thats one of the stories i also don't believe...i think that was made up to make a point. usually, if people shoot a you with an ak-47 (how should he know what kind of fun it is anyway?) you have other things to worry about than your windshield. and the interior should be damaged as well.

Here in the States you can own an illegal firearm as long as it was purchased before it was made illegal. No expost facto law (can' t be made guilty for something that happened before the law was passed). So yea, I've seen some...interesting...weapons in my life. You can't sell them, so might as well bring them out all the time to show the neighbors and scare off outsiders.

not exactly on topic since JC lives in the UK.

Also, the federal ban on those weapons expired, so unless you live in a state that has made separate laws to outlaw them(california) you can buy them if you pass all the checks.
