Default Jeremy Clarkson being gunged.

I just randomly came across this. It is from 1993-1994. The presenter, Noel Edmunds, also used to present on Top Gear.

Well, it's no worse than when he ate his own hair in an omelette.

By the way, I didn't know Richard Branson was a Top Gear host... and what a stylish shirt he's got on.

I never really looked at Edmunds in that light, till now.

He's actually a pretty big name here, that show used to be a big Saturday evening ratings puller (though I hated it), and he's recently made a comeback with some crappy daytime quiz program.

Two reasons - one, there was a viewer vote as to who should be gunged - Clarkson or someone who was well known in the 90s and had something to do with motorbikes.

Two, it was a tradition on Noel's House Party (for that was the show) that guests (or at least some guests) got gunged. It was a bit of fun, it doesn't do much harm, and it, I guess, was the payoff for the exposure granted by appearing on NHP.

And, in comparison to the setup for the later years' NHPs, he got off lightly :

i think Jeremy just lost any leverage he had for making fun of Richard and James for their supposedly leather induced motorcycle obsession

This is kind of related. Mr Blobby was from the same show and if you watch at around 25 seconds on wards you can see Clarkson driving the car. Interesting to see the random rubbish he did back in the day. This was in 1993. For your own sanity do not watch the entire video.

That was one of the worst shows only beaten by Beadles About for "crappyness" on Saturday evening TV.

Oh dear, I watched the entire video, and I think I just lost my last remains of sanity!!! images/smilies/lol.gif

I heard "Mr Glory" the whole time instead of Mr Blobby. But yeah it's amazing the stuff Clarkson would do back then! haha. They should have an episode on Top Gear of out-takes and embarrassing stuff that they all did in the past before they were superstars! Most shows have out-takes episodes and they are always the funniest.

Edit: Did anybody notice the macarena rip-off at the beginning! Ha I remember when that was "all the rage"!
Correction: The dance in the video was apparently invented before the Macarena became popular, but it obviously has similar roots...
