I did. Looking forward to that. James article also contains a spoiler, if you haven't heard of how James will review a Volkswagen product with some power.

Great article. If james is reviewing the Veyron, the Stig will probably take it round the track

But the faster you go, the more demage you will suffer from the fast stop.
![]() It's a very old argument, but to be honest, it really isn't correct.

You need to differentiate between speed causing an accident, vs determing the severity of the impact. Speed does not cause an accident - where a driver loses control they have misjudged road conditions and / or the vehicles capabilities and / or their own abilities - if they were going too fast that's their fault, not the fault of speed.

I have nothing against driving fast, on a B-road, for instance. But when I see someone racing in residential areas, I really feel sick, they have NO control, a kid might come running over the street at ANY time. And my point was, the faster you drive, the harder the stop will be. I said nothing about speed in it self causing accidents.

I don't think you'll find anyone disagreeing with that.

Still, you allways find people doing it. Sad, it is.

I think Speed doesn't kill... it might increase the severity of your accident if you have one, but I think as long as the Driver uses common sense (ie. Not driving like an idiot on residential areas as someone mentioned) and also driving at the speed they are comfortable with, the road won't be any more dangerous than it is now... But Jeremy Clarkson is correct in this case and has a very good point, Top Gear is not promoting speed at all, speeding has exist before Top Gear came along (Even teenagers on horses in the olden days
) and the problem will definitely not go away long after Top Gear goes in the History books.

Speed doesn't kill, but it increases the likelyhood of part failure, decreases the amount of reaction time and available time/space to react in, and increases the damage that will occur when an accident happens. If speed wasn't a problem, there wouldn't be speed limits in town. However, in the empty countryside I find it ridiculous to have a 60 mph speed limit. In the 1950s, back when car technology was terrifying, the speed limit was 80 and everyone did at least 85 mph. Imagine that with your drum brakes and leaf springs! Simularly, it is ridiculous to have a set speed limit for all cars. A big semi hauling thousands of pounds should be limited to 60 mph, simply because if it needs to stop it also needs a hell of a long distance to do so. But that doesn't mean your typical car, let alone a super car, needs that far. This is why you will find no one that actually lives in the countryside actually obeying the speed limits.
