Was the 1.50 with Jason and Hammond in the car?
If 100lbs (45kg) can mean ~0.1 second faster in a 1/4mi run... surely that means a good bit more for a nearly 2 minute laptime. How fast around the track without all the extra weight?

Yes, he drove the car with all three of them in it...
And they were joking around. |

Time to do the lap in the Lacetti; this time seperately.

I suspect Jeremy's lap time will be quite a bit better in the new lacetti with no one else in the car. He's actually a pretty good driver...

His greatest adavntage will be the fact that he probably knows the track better than anybody else, probably even the Stig.

But then again...isn't the show moving to a new location for the next season, cause Dunsfold kicked them out?

I'm sure Clarkson would be very, very good around the track with the Liana without Hamster and I-eat-a-whole-pig-a-day Dawe (<- that's gotta be at least 300 lbs. right there!)
I also think Jezza knows a lot more about mechanics and engineering than he lets on. It's mainly noticeable when he (possibly unwittingly) starts talking about certain things and mentioning things that only a petrol-head or mechanic would understand. But now I'm blabbering, so I shall stop

I bet he does. Although i'm not sure if he understands well beyond general principles of how stuff works.

No doubt he would be pretty quick around the track. However I am not so sure he would be the fastest of the three. Now remember that hammond has got a racing license and May is actually much, much quicker than seems, for example the lessons from Jackie Stewart were more than helpful. And Sabine Schmidt said that Jezza isn't THAT great.
And as for knowing the track better than the Stig. Well, yes in a way since he spends so much time going around it, but I really don't think he knows the track in a way that he knows all the corners insideout and in theory the fastest way to go round it. But The Stig on the otherhand knows in practice how to go around the track. So saying that Jeremy knows the track better than The Stig is basically true, but I don't think Jezza is able to use all that knowledge as well as the Stig. As for the question who of the three would be the fastest (I feel a poll coming on). I'm not so sure...I think it would go down between Richard and Jeremy and I'm gonna play the wildcard here and say, that Hamster would be quicker than Jeremy basically because he has (some) racing experience and he is rrrrreeally competetive which I think Jeremy isn't; I think Monsieur Clarkson can't push his talents to the limit like Richard can.

Damn really? I can't believe he could be so crazy about cars and had never gone to the ring before that episode.

I think he has been to the ring, (at least on air), but he never drove it. He took the ring taxi with Sabine in an old video once.

I think Clarkson, May, and Hammond should all have a go in the Lacetti. I don't want the 5 practice laps and then 1 final lap for them though. We need a 10 lap event, best time wins.

Judging from the lines and cornering speeds he's done with FF hatchbacks in the later series, I think he'd at least be capable of 1:45-ish by now... After all it's neither a frightening car nor track, and he's spent a lot of time getting to know it. --------------------------- Having the 3 presenters duking it out with hot laps would be very interesting indeed. My personal bet would be on Clarkson, Hammond seems to me to more of a tv presenter than an enthusiastic driver anyway. May would of course be the dark horse as I can't remember ever seeing him go around that track... and I don't think that car/track would frighten even him ![]() So, I guess what's left to say is... bring it on!

I personally think Jezza would 1:49, possibly 1:48 if he's lucky, but no better then that. And I do think he is the best driver out of the three.
