Default Keyless entry

Anyone remember in season 3 the episode where jeremy demostrates that holding the keyless remote up to his head gives it further range? Does anyone have the faintest idea how that works?

Yes it does work. I've tried it on my Civic and my parents' minivan.

I tried to figure this out at my aurora forum. No one knows. I've tried to google it and... no dice. I keep getting different answers. Some say it is the filling in your teeth... and the myths go on. Also, apparantly if you touch you cellphone you transmission will go not a hundred yards futher, but even kilometers further (havent tried this). I always touch my neck when I open my car (force of habit) and, yes, I do get better range.

Supercars are supposed to run over Arthur Scargill and then run over him again for good measure. I press my fob hard under my chin and get much better range than normal. I don't have any fillings in my teeth, so I don't think the fillings theory carries much weight.

I think it's called capacitive coupling. By putting the keyless entry remote against your head and pushing the button your natural electric field broadcasts that signal for that split second so you in effect have two transmiters thus increasing your range. It's like when you go to adjust you radio antenna, and when you touch it the reception improves, but when you let go it goes to crap again.

The radio waves penetrate your brain, causing the inside of your skull to act as a parabolic radio reflector and beam the signal out the ocular cavities.

Just kidding, I have no freakin' clue - but it sounded pretty good. It might just have more to do with the elevation of the transmitter.

Probaby has something to do with the water in your body acting as an antenna/amplifier because of great density.

It works even better if you think really hard about unlocking the car. Just visualize it.
