umm, I'm seriously not up to date with the min news about top gear since i'm here in the states.. but I have seen all of the top gear episodes and have not seen a car they tested beat the Enzo's time...Then just now I checked the Stig's Laptimes and the Maserati MC12 has beat the Enzo time of 1.18.9... Anyone else seen this?

Everyone has seen it! 8)
it beat it by .1 seconds. even though the Enzo is lighter, more powerful and smaller, and much much easier to handle. the MC12 is a road legal race car. this means that in the hands of a professional racing driver , it would be able to do a better lap around a fairly small track.

Stig is a very good tame racing driver.
He is unbeatable at TG testtrack.

I'd really like to know where the Koenigsegg CCR would make it now. It seems that alot has happened since they tested the CC8S.
Also, rumor sais that the CC8S time was staged, and that it actually is faster than the Zonda. |

I dont really think Stig is that good.
He does small misstakes all the time and never actually gets a really clean lap. So the times are a indication at how fast the cars go. I bet that Damon hill would beat his times and number of other ex F1 drivers aswell. |

He does make minor mistakes from time to time but he has consistent lap times w/ a whole array of different cars. It's more of his consistency than anything they may not be perfect laps, but its enough to see whats faster than what.

Lazier than Viper

Difference is so small that it can be due to track conditions or driving errors, I mean they only take the best lap, not an average, so you can't really compare...

Did I say he wasn't a F1 driver???
NO I did not. How do you know he is consistent with the lap times when they only show 1 lap with him??? In the race he had against JC in what ever cars it was he really showed he cant drive or race another. He was mowing the lawn more times then being on the track and this against JC. That really changed my mind about the stig. Also seeing DH and MW taking different lines true the corners help change my mind that he aint that good. From all we know he could be Jason Plato. |

The Stig "makes mistakes" because he is so far on the edge with these cars.
Even I can do a lap that looks clean and perfect. It's not difficult to drive a car around a track and follow perfect racing lines. It's an entirely different thing to actually takes cars to the limit and keep it there for the entire lap. Even with those "mistakes" they take the fastest of Stig's laps. Those who don't respect the Stig obviously haven't done anything like this before. Even F1 drivers look like they make mistakes because they keep their cars on the limit. They are constantly correcting slides and fighting understeer because they are always close to spinning out.

i really dont think its as important to have the stig as someone really really fast. all that is important is to have someone who can pull out consistant driving so that you can compare the laptimes the best.
if it was jason plato....jc wouldnt of had a chance in any of those races

However, Koenigsegg is in constant development, and the CC8S was featured again in Jezza's Shootout and he claimed that it was a completely different car. He even claimed that it was his favorite supercar at the time (and yes, I know he says that all the time). Remember that the CCR has got an additional 150hp and brand new custom made italian VPS shocks. |
