I have to respectfully disagree with the claim "Cool Driving Music."

Not that its bad music, just not my taste in driving music.

That first CD is absolutely terrible, I'd be ashamed to have the name of my show associated with it when my show was one whos general modus operandi is to revile the flash in the pan modern shit fads from all sub-cultures of life (of which this cd solely consists).

As for the second, Purple Rain a better Prince driving song than Let's Go Crazy? Eees no makey thee sense.

Speaking of cool driving music does anyone know where a torrent of the Gumball 3000 cd exists?

Wow, I'm surprised by how bad the song choices are. Driftwood by Travis? In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins? How is that a driving music?! Plus a lot of the songs aren't just shitty for driving to; They're shitty!

And while I'm at it, how many of those songs have ever even been on Top Gear? I made a compilation of songs from Top Gear once - There's more than enough good driving songs that have featured on the show to fill a CD... Why all this crap?

This whole things reeks of 'making a quick buck'. This is the exact kind of thing your dithery old Auntie will buy you for Christmas because she knows you love Top Gear.

Slightly unrelated but Top Gear Anthems is currently available on usenet and the track selection is much better IMO.

Their first CD wasn't actually that bad, I enjoyed some of the music on it. But this new one, all of the music on it is utter dross, especially the first disc. Who actually enjoys listening to Plain White T's, except those bloody emos? images/smilies/wallbash.gif

I think both CDs are brilliant-it's an eclectic mix of open mindedness and quality! Travis's Driftwood is a classic, if you like it or not, no one can argue that it's rubbish songwriting- cos it isn't. And Whithesnake's "Is This love"- what a cracker!images/smilies/mrgreen.gif
I think this compilation reflects the music on TG very accurately- I won't buy it cos i've got 90% of the songs already.

Driftwood is a lovely song. In fact, it's the main reason I bought their album back in the day. But it's not - and never will be - a driving song. Now, admittedly, you could listen to it in the car... but that doesn't count.images/smilies/tongue.gif

I disagree. The music from the show is much more varied than this (and most of it is much, much better than this). Plus, why does it need to be a reflection of the music from the show when they could literally use the very same music from the show?

All I see is soft-cock fossil-rock and modern, soulless, radio-friendly pap by these million-and-one new bands who all sound alike...

i reckon top gear has the best soundtrack of any shows on tv today. i cant think of anything else on tv that consistently use the works of aphex twin, amon tobin, m83 and the likes. considering what a control freak jeremy is coupled with his dreadful taste in music it is surprising that we are hearing a lot of idm and glitch stuff on top gear. but i suppose the producers had to compromise and let jezza pick his favourite tunes for most of the top gear cds
