Default New Top Gear Magazine

In this month, clarkson wants to know whether to continue top gear in last of the summer petrol or POWEER styles

and 100 fastest cars... with one that has 38bhp.... I'm not kidding with that one, top one is a surprise though.

I assume he means whether to have more cocking about, i.e. making the petrol or to have more car reviews i.e. POWWWAAAHHHH.

Definitely more car reviews than cocking about... I think the consensus is pretty clear on here about that.

What's the 38hp car? Is it that weird hotdog car Vicki and Schumacher drove on Fifth Gear?

Clarkson said they had plenty of car reviews filmed but because they had only so little air time they included only the biggest bits.

Now the question is - why did they have so little air time? They could easily done several more shows in the series - I'd have watched every one!

Yeah, why didn't they just show them? The studio segments cannot possibly take nearly as much time as shooting the segments does. I hope next series won't just be a rehash of mediocre materials they didn't air this time... it's been a long, long time since we've had a decent, normal season of Top Gear. Basically since Jeremy slipped the discs.

in his piece clarkson said that they'd filmed enough for 9 episodes, however with hammonds little jet propelled tunneling effort, they had to postpone till january where there was only 6 slots available (I swear I saw a best of top gear the other week that could have been an episode)

anyways because the car reviews can be filmed from a whip round, and the cocking about requires re-mortgages and piggy banks to be broken, they screened the cocking about.... and the viewing figures caused them to cream themselves.

In Jeremy's column in TG mag he basically talks about superb viewing figures but stresses that it isn't too important to them but that they can't be ignored . He mentions how they were pushed for time and stressed over what to put into the series after 'you know what - that thing we don't mention'. He says that after the last series a lot of folks "dived into their forums and moaned.."

He understands why but isn't to sure how to fix it. In fact at the end he says, "I'm stuck on this one"

But he also mentions future shows and what people expect. He says that people want the challenges whereas some folks want more car features etc

So, It looks like Andy Wilman and all at TG have been reading our epic threads about the show. I feel sorry for them in a way because I personally feel some of the forum members (here and on other forums) did give them a bit of a rough time. Working in TV is hard enough when it goes well, but having to work around people, schedules and available slots the BBC had left after the accident must have been a complete ball ache.

I say we are all united, regardless of where we live or by what means we manage to watch the latest shows. We all like watching Top Gear, some more than others and at the end of the day if it makes you laugh or smile even for a minute, its worth all the blood, sweat and tears.

Yes, you are right, there was a Best of Top Gear on, I think ive seen 2 on BBC2 so far since the end of series 9 at 8:00 on sundays. They were showing stuff from series 8 in the programmes.

x2 Well said!

I'd hate to be in their position too. What bugs me is that some people are convinced they know exactly what is best for the show and how it should be. The fact is that everyone takes something different from it. Some people loved season 9 and some people hated it.

At the end of the day, it's a damn good TV show and whatever direction JC and the boys want to take it, I'll still be watching! As long as all 3 presenters are involved, long live TG, in whatever form that takes!

The bottom line is that Top Gear could become a program about sheep shaving and we'd still watch it as long as the presenters remained and Wilman produced it.

But seriously, you can't please everyone, so don't bother. They should do what they feel is best for Top Gear and let people moan about it afterwards.

^ Yep, in some ways they might read a bit too much around here... We are just fans, and no experts...
Personally I preferred something along the lines of season 6. But then season 9 was perfect entertainment. They just need 12 eps a seasonwhere they can do 6 cocking about and 6 that are more car related...
