Interestingly, a friend at work today said he'd been to a "classic car workshop" in his village and they were working on something from or for Top Gear. Nowhere near Theale though, so either Oliver has moved or something else is afoot. Will update if and when I hear anything new!

The burning question of the day is: will Oliver still have the "cough" after a proper restoration? Or will the horn be fixed?

Hammond fixed the cough himself after the near drowning.

MOTORING TV star Richard Hammond's beloved car, Oliver, has finally finished being restored at a Theale garage.
As previously reported, the 1963 Opel Kadett was sent to Theale Motor Works in the village’s High Street to get a lick of paint in preparation for a new television series.
Mr Hammond - presenter of BBC 2 show Top Gear and dubbed 'Hamster' by his co-presenters - fondly called the car Oliver after he spotted and bought the banger for £1,200 in Botswana.
The car was then used as as part of challenge across Africa featured on the show.
Each presenter had to buy a car for £1,500 or less and drive it more than 1,000 miles across Botswana.
The car has now become famous after Mr Hammond became emotionally attached to it and even exclaimed his love for it during the show.
It was then shipped over to England from Botswana and it is now being given back to Mr Hammond.
Body shop manager at the garage, Tom Rooke, said: “We’ve finally finished the car and he’s being picked up and taken off to start a new journey. It’s been great working on it and we hope it has a happy future.”
It is not known yet known the exact details of the new programme, but it is believed filming for the show started on Monday (14).

This may sound weird, but whatever the show is about, it sounds good. The way Hamster drooled over that little car was hilarious, (although I had a kind-of-similar experience with an 80's Nissan).
Looking forward to it, and hoping someone will post rips of it on Finalgear (I don't have a TV recording device, so to watch the shows again they have to be AVIs or something).

It's, pretty much, a science game show for kids, with some informational skits added. Looks pretty cool, to me.

I tried that and it doesn't work!images/smilies/mad.gif It's bad enough that they won't let Americans or other Europeans, Canadians etc watch it, but why me?! It says "this video is not available in your current country or region". Is there something wrong with my IP or computer or what? Can someone help, please?
Now I can't even watch those old Top Gear outtakes.images/smilies/mad.gifimages/smilies/sad.gif

Oliver looks great now, but im a bit dissappointed.
I was expecting some great car road trip documentary or series (similar vein to Oz and James) with Oliver obviously being the main form of transport.
Oh well, any oliver is good oliver.

I have to contact my ISP or something, I guess.
My computer was manufactured and registered in the US, but it hasn't given me problems like this before. Maybe the BBC changed their region-protectio or something. Will there be a torrent?

Wow, that isnt weird at all becuase I'm attatched to my Suzie images/smilies/lol.gif. She's a 2008 Nissan Sentra and she's the most lovable car next to Oliver.
Did anyone else think about how Hammonds Back with his peers? lol

i cant believe they've done such b-s to such an amazing car... they put it in some lame quiz show, which just happens to be presented by one of the best presenters, i'm really surprised that he agreed to host it..., and then they go and fit the poor old oliver with some ridicules flashing lights as an indication if a bunch of silly kids answered a dumb question correctly, they must have partially ruined the car to set up something as dumb as this, and to make it worst, they change oliver from a car with the most character to some idiotic intelligently enhanced car or something. Poor oliver, I'm really disappointed in the producers of that show and hammond for letting the morons from CBBC ruin his beloved car for a few pounds...
