Default Not Keeping Score in the Challenges

In the previous challenges, £100 car challenge, £1,500 Porsche challenge, £1,500 coupe that isn't a Porsche challenge, and £1000 van challenge, points where clearly given out. It was a big deal when James won or when Jeremy pulled out some silly scheme to give himself the win. It added a real competitive element along with hilarious arguing over the awarding of points.

In the last couple challenges, there haven't been any points. In the American car challenge, there were none given out, although somewhat understandably since that wasn't really the point of the episode.

The tractor challenge had no points, despite Hammond saying more points would be awarded for dragging heavier things in the "drag race". They may tally the points in a later series when they harvest the petrol, but I doubt it. So who the drag race and the other challenges? Which tractor wins and gives James/Jeremy/Richard all the glory?

I'd like to see the points system back or some way to find a winner. Any thoughts on why they seem to have changed directions here?

^ Yes I agree, bring back the scoring! The banter over what points each got and the friendly bickering with the unlikely JC win (usually) were all part of the fun.

^Yeah, I gotta say that I was also wondering where the points system went on the last episode. What would be the point of dragging more weight in the tractor drag race if there weren't any points awarded for it? Sure would like to have the old bickering back.

As for the reason on why they probably cut it out of the show, one can only guess. I'm pretty sure they still filmed it in the studio, at least for the crowd if not for the viewers, i guess images/smilies/wacko.gif . And that would be just silly, since the viewers are the larger audience. images/smilies/bangin.gif

Maybe they're waiting to give out the points when the crop of fuel is ready? The points really do add a lot to the challenges. Without them, the whole thing is just kind of stupid.

They didn't score the farm challenge because it isn't completed.

The only proper new challenge was the US one but I think Richard clearly won that one because they gave the L to James, and Clarkson almost got sued. Richard also had the best functioning car.

Scoring that challenge wouldn't be too appropriate either.
