Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Any of our German friends know what you have to do to take your own car on the track at the Nubergring? Jeremy said, you could just turn up and pay 15 euros? Do you have to book? Have any special insurance? What time did Jeremy go round in the Jaguar? Sabine in the Transit? and Hammond in the Viper? I want to see if I can beat them. BTW: Can you drive a fast as you like on the Autobahns? |

| Nurburgring has a system like a shopping center parking lot. You stick your ticket/money into the box and the boom opens for your car to go in. You just need to wait in the line of cars. Cheap, simple, fun, and very dangerous ![]() | |

| Driving around the Ring in a car other than your own is another reason not to push it. ![]()

Yes, there are other (more or less experienced) drivers, which means even more risk of getting involved in an accident. I'm pretty sure you could rent the track (if you find a day when it's not in use), but then we're talking thousands and thousands of Euros. But obviously, if you go there in the middle of the week the track will be less crowded than on the weekends. Oliver

| TGG, your knowledge about the "ring" is quite insufficient (based on your questions like if there is any traffic, speed limit etc) you must be kidding when you say "I want to see if I can beat them" oliB is completely right, in case you want to get home in one piece, you should NOT attempt this, neither in your car, nor in a powerful porsche. you dont have any room for errors on the ring, and its not like its a short 1minute track that you can learn within a few laps. nor is it a smooth track that doesnt hide suprises. | |

| Have you tried the Gran Turismo version? It's actually quite accurate, just ask Jeremy. I'd give it a few thousand shots in there first if I were you, but don't confuse reality with video games once you're actually there. We wouldn't want you to die, remember? ![]() | |

Yes, a Porsche should be faster than the Jag, but JC can actually drive quite well, and I'm tipping he had a bit of coaching too. I'm guessing that as soon as you get there it will frighten the beejezus out of you (as it does to us mortals) and you won't feel like going fast. Never underestimate the danger and risk of the 'ring. Certainly, go there and drive the track, but drive safe, do not push yourself or an unfamiliar car. Do some laps around it in GT4 - trust me that will give you a whole new respect for the place.

Apparently the regulars there ('Ringers') are happy to take people around for a ride too - I don't think you'll have a problem getting a ride... .As for track cars to hire - not sure - though someone mentioned BMW have a setup there like a driving course where you use their cars on the track. Bear in mind if you do crash - you have to pay for the damage to the track & barriers too...

Rep Power: 17 ![]() ![]() | God you are all such scared little girls! I raced the ring on GT4 a couple of night ago in the Jag S Type to see if I could beat JC's time (I know it is the R version in the game not the diesel, and there is a big difference, but it is the closest you can get). I beat it easily (thus proving I am far superior to both JC and Sabine). I only hit the walls doing 150km/h a couple of times...I'm sure this won't happen in real life. Plus if GT4 has taught us anything it is that you can slam into walls and other cars and you will just bounce back off, in fact sometimes it will help you win a race. ![]() |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | 1) If you went to the first site they gave you ( http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ ), you wouldn't have all these questions. It really is a great place for info. 2) Sorry to say this, but it's people like you who ruin it for everyone else. You obviously have no respect for the Ring, nor for the Autobahn. I'm not trying to flame you, but I saw a lot of people like you on the Ring and they're a hazard to themselfs and the other drivers. If you're a speedfreak, go to an oval or something, but don't get your fix at the Ring or the Autobahn. There's so much more involved then just speed. The Nordschleife is nothing like any other circuit. NOTHING. You will be suprised (and not in a good way). Listen to what the others say, don't just go there to drive fast, bc you will get hurt or worse. Greetz Johan |
