Default Protest against Clarkson's Nazi comments

Just found this article.

I am from a german background and I dont really feel offended by the "insults" in this series. It's humourous in my eye's, but there are always some that don't understand the joke. If the german government gets involved that would only make it worse.
I have been called a Nazi by some stupid lower class Britians, but only after they noticed that I spoke with someone in German.

Those people are so dim it's incredible.. what's wrong with making fun of nazi's? The comment about if he had made fun of the jews or muslims like that was completely ridiculous.. those groups didn't commit genocide on a huge scale like that?
Oh and of course it's wrong to call every german a Nazi, but hey.. Brits are poncy tea drinkers, Italians are fat spaghetti eaters, French are communist bastards and the Dutch are cheeseheads (or druggies).. we all know those 'facts' right?
hajj, so true.. people who get offended by this are usually the ones with the guilty conscience..

Pathetic..

I find it disturbing that evidently some people are born without a sense of humor. images/smilies/wacko.gif

I would suspect that people that get upset over these things probably only read what was said in transcripts or articles rather than actually having watched it, and thereby completely missing the atmosphere and context.
I remember the Bill Maher ordeal on the "Politically Incorrect" tv show several years back. I saw the actual episode when it aired, and the complaints about the statements he made were suggesting a 180 degree difference in what he was actually trying to say. images/smilies/wacko.gif

Yes a lot of people do not have humour. Just read some of the Viper/ Corvette threads or the Top Gear thread about the F150. Jeremy just does this all the time. He bashes anyone.

I do accept though that some people are worried about this, considering the World Cup which is coming up next year. If some uneducated idiots would come and just call everyone Nazi's, then the situation could flip.

Dear Germany:

When we make fun of Nazis, we're making fun of Nazis, not Germans. Unless you're a Nazi, you shouldn't be offended. Are you a Nazi?

Sincerely,
The Rest of the Goddamn World That Has a Sense of Humor.

It still is an absolute Don't in Germany to make fun of anything that has to do with the Nazi regime at all - that's why people are pissed on every occasion that they hear of anybody doing so. General public attitude is to better be übercareful in that context, and yes, when you add that to the general lack of humor in Germany (we are quite humorous, you only don't recognise images/smilies/tongue.gif images/smilies/lol.gif ), you permanently get stupid reactions to such issues.

Very nicely played. What would happen if like a million people sent this exact letter to these morons who are all up in arms.

Yeah, I can understand how it'd be a touchy subject! The thing is, the fact that Jeremy can make jokes about the Nazis and the fact that viewers can laugh at it really tells me that the rest of the world understands that Germany is long past the whole National Socialist thing. That we can poke fun at it means that we consider it a bygone thing.

And for the record, I do know that german people have a sense of humor, its just people that get up in arms over the smallest things that give everyone else a bad name!
