Oh, I sure do wish there would be a race in the upcoming season, although it's really hard to imagine what the TG boys have came up with - it's hard to get any better from the Bugatti vs. plane -race.
Polar race mentioned by Jeremy get me excited, since I live in Finland. If I'd had to have a wild guess, I go for something like rallycar versus the nordic public transport system or something like that. The Bowler Wildcat -idea wasn't bad either.
I hardly can't wait what they're up to and since I am off to my military service in 8th of January, it is making this even harder

Has James got night flying clearance yet? Could do another car vs plane race but with them being allowed to fly at night.

Prehaps it should be not a test of how good the car is, but an inteptitude test of the public transport... i.e, James drives the car, Hammond and Clarkson stagger about the system...Although, no truly terrible public transport networks in europe really spring to mind...

That's because you have never felt the discomfort of riding the Signatur-trains of the Norwegian central train company, NSB, for an undefined amount of time, stuck in those tin cans in the middle of summer on the track between Oslo and Trondheim, one Swedish guy had a thermomether, it said 39 degrees centigrade.

BY GOD, I hate, despise and condem ALL trains. THEY CAN BURN! ARGH!

Haven't those in charge of seat design EVER heard of supporting the lower back? I had CHRONIC back ache after fiftheen minutes!

So.. it'll have to be a car for Clarkson..

A really comfortable one, like an XJS, since our roads are really bumpy as well.

39ºC? Nothing. That's a normal summer temperature here. We tend to get a bit worried when things are heading toward 50 though, and I swear the Cityrail trains hit that on a regular basis... And then we get to track maitence, brown outs and all manner of fun things!

Seconded on a Jag, but I think an XJR-R.

I'd be guessing if it was a Jag, it would be the new XKR.

It was HOT! I am a Viking, for christs sake. You come whining when you find -15 C with strong coastal winds are too cold for you.

The Subway in London was about as bad, or even a bit worse, when it comes to heat.

Not exactly a race, but a cheap 4x4 challenge would be fun

if it had some dirtbikes in the back or something, sure hehe

or it could be a party van, or a shag wagon! the only alternative use i know for a modern pick-up is making a small pool in the bed with a tarp

as far as trucks go i don't care for the newer ones as their really just tourqey cars for people with penis problems, i like older trucks with solid axles that can go over huge jumps and be off-roaded compitently, otherwise the point is lost

well okay actualy trucks are good for hauling stuff, and of all the new trucks i do like the dodge trucks the best, but if i was going to haul something id also want enouph room that i could sleep comfortably inside the vehicle, and i dont know of any pickups like that, hense a van with a big engine sounds good

I can't think of them racing in America or here in Australia as the public transport systems are pretty bad. Love to see them race in Asia where you have dodgy motorists who do a U turn in the middle of a busy eight lane highway and have four or five guys riding on a motorcycle.

Common Viper bigger countries than the US have implemented sucessfull mass transit systems, Russia and China are pretty well provided. As for why, no security checks, you can get seriously pissed and eat proper food on the train and have a good sleep afterwards plus you can stop off and see a lot of stuff on the way.

What about the "polar race" Hammond mentionned in his interview at the TopGear Awards Ceremony (TGMAG) ? Anyone has a clue about what it will actually be ?

Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display)
According to the previews in the TG mag just before Top Gear was supposed to start back in October there was a season preview. They've been to America, where they had a "cheap american car challenge" Hammond bought a Dodge Pick-Up, May bought a Caddilac and Clarkson overstretched himself like he did with the 928 and bought a Camaro. They also went for a round of golf.
