    Season 13 Start Date

Hi all, I have created this thread with the permission of Viper, so no need to shout 'repost!'.

Some of you may have seen my earlier post stating that I will reveal the Season 13 start date after 12X08.....

I have been told the date by two reliable sources, however, as we have seen in the past, it may be slightly longer. (Although I have also noticed various other sources revealing the start date, such as online auctions and Clarkson himself).

The unofficial start date is in March 2009

The new February edition of Top Gear Magazine has reportedly revealed that thereturn of Top Gear will be in June[/B]........we shall await more info.

Top Gear will return on the 21st June 2009.

Im sure they don't just film in between seasons, so they probably already have a lot of footage.

You also have to bear in mind that they are still on tour, although given SA and Oz are on the itinerary they may be able to film some stuff while on tour (it would help with the budget after all). They did series 12 in eight weeks, allegedly, even if they did have to use a couple of standby pieces as fillers.

I have every faith they'll cobble something together at the last minute.....

Yep, but I'm also thinking that Season 13 will be very short, making Season 14 a long and enjoyable one

If they work to 12-14 episodes per year - bringing them in line with other high profile BBC shows (which have one 12 week series run per year) then I'd expect say six episodes in March and then another eight come November.

I thought Jeremy said at the beginning of Series 12 that they did it all the morning before. WHO DO I BELIEVE?!?!

They will film the larger sections (challenges, races etc) well before the series as they need the most planning and also produce the most footage and need the most editing.

Things like car reviews (with the exception of the Fiesta) can be done in pretty much no time at all, its simply a matter of getting the car, spending a day on the track then maybe a few days editing it together.

3 months should be enough time for them even with the tour, hopefully they can film a few segments whilst on the tour.

well, they most likely film the track segments and road tests during the week of airing, so that just leaves the cocking about to be filmed and that just takes a little amount of time.

    Watch Fifth Gear then.

It would be silly and irresponsible not to be doing some sort of filming.

i bet my car that it wont be back that soon, budget cuts mean that they are going to have to re work the show. Besides, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Thats a stupidly unspecific date, if they kind of sort of knew then they would have atleast had the guts to pretend they knew what day. I say it will be out in May

How the hell is that stupidly unspecific? James May told me to my face that Season 12 would start in late October, but it actually started a week or two later in early November.

They cannot give out a day this early because of potential conflicting programmes on BBC at 8pm. I suppose upyourego will know more about this matter.

So four or five sources saying it's in March isn't enough? (Two of those sources are pretty high up).

I could be completely wrong, but if so, blame Applause Store for emailing me saying i've got tickets for March, blame online auctions offering tickets for March, blame Clarkson for saying on Radio 5 that the new series will be in March, and blame my other source from Top Gear itself, who I am not allowed to name....

Well I think it may be on the impossible side of things guys. They have all the TG Live shows to do yet and that runs through till mid-Feb. They are, from what I gather (I could be wrong about this), doing 3 shows per day for the 3 or 4 days their down here in NZ, as for the other countries I'm not sure, but it probably runs along those lines.

They may have a TG special eg Polar, Veitnam, etc ready in March, but I doubt a series.

Very good point actually, they are away for a month. We will just have to wait and see what happens....
