Yea, last year's spring series wore better somehow, winter series are always a bit squeezed. images/smilies/mellow.gif

^ You got to be joking. Last winter series was the best ever with the best ep of all time (612 vs. plane + bob vs. rally car...) Season 5 also had the Jag on the Ring... Epic...

I'm sure they'll come up with some new stuff. The shorter winter season means they can take some more time with the new season, plus they've probably have some stuff like the Veyron bits already taped.
The last season was by no means disappointing, perhaps there weren't too many episodes but it didn't feel short at all, plenty of stuff happened images/smilies/smile.gif
Just a hunch, but I think we might see some snow and ice themed bits in the next season (as they are shooting stuff in the winter images/smilies/smile.gif ).. some ice racing perhaps?

I'd love for them to prove that the car is the best mode of transport to ecomentalists. They could have Jeremy in a car (to make it relevent lets make it a new car so he can road test it), Richard on a plane and James on the train. They then each make their way to (any major European city). At the end we see who had the cheapest journey, who had the most relaxed and who emitted the most greenhouse gasses. I'd be nice for them to prove that the car was the cleanest (which it almost definatly would be) out of all the options of travel available. I think it'd be a nice change from the cross continent races, which have gone a bit stale now.

Hopefully there will be some new ideas in the spring series, as they used the races and cheao car challenges too much last year.

That would be a cool idea, having Richard on one mode of transport, and James on another. But pick up this months TG mag, and Jeremy in his article describes how the races are done and how expensive they are. To do all three in different locals would be hugely expensive.

They did on the awards show. Only know that cos I watched that ep' a couple of days ago images/smilies/lol.gif

The Veyron race, it's odd that now it's been mentioned I feel as if I've missed out on something special by not seeing Richard and James enjoy a beverage - and it's got nothing to do with the car! images/smilies/lol.gif

Why not a race across a chunk of America...in something fitting, like the new Z06?

Anything older than 1980, in America. That would make for truly entertaining television! Old Ford Fairmonts, rusting Dodge Monacos, decrepit Pontiac Parisienne "personal luxury coupes". End it with a round of demolition derby racing, caravans in tow, around an oval, American style. That would be brilliant. Jeremy would have a field day making fun of Americans!

Hahaha yeah....or the horrible way the "great old cars" evolved; ie. the Mustang, Charger, Camaro etc. in the 70's and 80's...of course with a demolition derby at the end.

for series 8....

the new Mercedes S Class deserves something...
i doubt they'll do the new Lexus IS...since everyone has said it's not as good as the 3 except in a straight line...

i'm not sure how long the Mercedes Benz R-Class has been in Europe..but they might do that.

the Audi Q7 perhaps?

hm....what else new cars are coming...

they MIGHT mention the Dodge Challenger Concept..

i'm rather excited about whatever they're going to dish up for season 8.

Indeed. Who ever thought the Bugatti race was boring, at least there was some beautiful scenery. For an American race, you're probably better off rolling around the middle of a corn field and you'll get the idea of what half of America looks like.

I was thinking something a little more "exotic" like a blast across the Nevada desert, and through California...nothing involving places like Ohio or...cornfields...

If you're talkin about like the southwestern Nevada desert, including Death Valley and what not, yeah that would be awesome. The scenery out there is gorgeous considering the harsch climate.

No need to do that, but I think they should take a page out of an American's book--Brock Yates. He's an editor in Car and Driver magazine, and in the 70s he helped organize the Cannonball Run.
http://www.allamericanracers.com/cannonball.html

Now *that* sounds like entertainment. A race across Europe (for instance something like Spain to Latvia) between different cars. Two people per car. Car choice up to each team. Route up to each team--do you take the shortest distance route, or detour a bit in hopes of finding a faster road? Any mods allowed.

Heh, I suppose it would also be hugely expensive and difficult to film, though...
