I think it's pretty cool that Koenigsegg is taking the Top Gear power laps as a serious measure of performance. 8)

I am surprised that it would be made as an "official" statement but then again, it is a car pple are talking about without the power lap only the most hardened petrol head would even know the auto existed. Watched by 250 million viewers speak for itself.

I remember back a few years ago when Clarkson tested the Koenigsegg CC, Koenigsegg had pictures of the roadtest on their site. It's basically the only publicity they get.

I liked one of the other "quick links" on the page:

"Koenigsegg as a police car?
"

Fun poll...

And a small car company like Koenigsegg needs all the publicity it can get. With the Koenigsegg CCR no longer being the fastest production car in the world they need to find themselves other ways to stick out of the crowd.

I'm not surprised they posted this on their website. After all, didn't they add the wing to the back as per Top Gear's advice?

After looking at the pics on that website, it made me realize how lucky the Stig is to be so famous yet he could walk on the streets of London and life his own private life when out of uniform.

So what if they are proud of themselves. They need to advertise in order to survive. Personally i will give Koenigsegg a year or two before they went bust.

Yeah, but I bet that really didn't do anything to the performance of the car. I heard somewhere (here maybe?) the CCX that crashed was pre-production, and the one that beat the lap record was the final model with all the handling kinks worked out.

Well, they've got a job opening as "Sales and Marketing Manager for the World Wide Market", so I guess they heard you :p

Still tho, you don't just advertise cars like this. It isn't like advertising milk. How many % of those who would see, say a magazine advertisement, for Koenigsegg is in a position to seriously consider buying one? 0.5%? And either way, if you are looking to spend a shitload of money on a supercar, you're probably aware of Koenigsegg already and will research a little about it just as you would with Ferrari's and Lambo's.

I mean why wouldnt they post it there? If your product basically beat every other competitive product out there, wouldnt you want your possible and existing customers to know?

And Norway ftw! (i used to live in Bergen) images/smilies/tongue.gif
