Default TG reference in an American newspaper comic strip, "Get Fuzzy"

Whoops, duplicate thread. Merged.

Get Fuzzy is an daily comic strip about a guy, his twisted cat, and his naive dog.

In today's comic, there was a reference to Top Gear, something that's quite unusual considering it's drawn by an American.

I wonder why they included a reference that only .02% of readers would understand.

Maybe that's the point -- an inside joke of sorts.

Actually, Darby tends to be pretty on-top of "indie" things when it comes to Rob's shirts and caps.

For an American Darby is pretty up on things from outside the US; he likes rugby and quite often Robs shirts are national team shirts.

The stig is a new one though...

Darby Conley does stuff like this all the time. I have a comic from a few years ago that I saved (it was an awesome strip that day) where Rob (the main character, along with Bucky Katt and Satchel) was wearing an "All Blacks" shirt with a New Zealand silver fern leaf on it. If I hadn't been to NZ, as an American it probably would have flown right over my head.

That said, Rob always wears shirts like this.

By far, the best comic strip to ever grace the papers! Bucky Katt is my hero.
