I think 2 month ban is a bit harsh, especially on new members who don't know better.

I think a lifelong ban from the internet would be OK for anyone who is too stupid to realize that a "Spoilers" forum is there for a reason.

Evel spoiled the big surprise for me a few days ago when he thoughtlessly posted it in the pre-ep discussion for 13x04. This spoiler is one that I didn't want to see.

I haven't been getting very much enjoyment out of Top Gear as of late and it would have been a lovely surprise...

Autoblog ruined for me. Had removed the Jalopnik feed from the toolbar and then comes freaking Autoblog with this week's spoiler

Bad idea to join a forum and immediately start posting. Lurk a bit, read a few threads, the faq/rules if the group has one. Some forums and newsqroups are very strict about etiquette. Better to quietly hang out for a while and figure out if that's the case rather than immediately get off on the wrong foot. images/smilies/mellow.gif

Well the spoiler section, isn't that obvious. Searching for threads doesn't end up finding anything. There needs to be a clearer mention of that.

Well, there clearly is a "TG Pre-Episode Discussions"-subforum (with another "Spoilers"-subforum) so it's obvious that discussions about episodes which haven't been aired don't belong in the normal Top Gear-subforum, or isn't it?

I'm on board with this thinking, that's how I generally operate.

Thank you for reminding everyone though, I've managed to remain mostly spoiler free and it's always more fun when the contents of the new episodes are a surprise.

Well now you are talking like the IT guys here at work LOL. Its not always that obvious and people are prone to Mistakes, including yourself.
I think a big sign in Red on the Top Gear normal discussion section would be good to remind people.

To be honest, I didn't notice that. Yea, its stupid. But I think a lot of people will still make that mistake. There isn't anything to stop them. I would suggest a Big sign reminder for not posting spoilers, cause a lot of people, including me get a bit over excited over news and tend to act on impulse.

A two month ban, perhaps a bit too much. Its not the end of the world you know.

i wish to show my support for this. as said before, the spoilers section is there for a reason and posting spoilers does indeed ruin the show (or parts of it at least) quite a lot for some people including me. i do not think it is "ok" if people just "don't know better"... that just shows that they're not willing to invest a bit of time in this forum, have a look around, see how things are handled here and THEN make their post.

This is good. I won't worry about avoiding this section for awhile before I can watch the newest episode now.

And junas, you can quote multiple posts without having to triple-post. It's the multi button next to the quote button. images/smilies/wink.gif
