Default The next Top Gear race...

I'm not sure if there has been any speculation on the next big race. It's going to be hard to top the Veyron race, but I was thinking along differant lines. Maybe they could trade places, with Clarkson taking some form of public transport and Hammond and May driving. I don't know if that'll work, just an idea.

So..I guess I'm asking what you think the next race should be like.

I would have thought that Clarkson will always drive the car, and he will always win.

Just like in the smaller races that incorporate reviews, the car will always lose (cyclist vs Clio, runner vs Panda, climber vs Audi, etc etc etc)

Like you say though, hard to go any more epic than the Veyron, even if it wasn't the best race they've had.

Maybe that Melling Hellcat, if they get their hands on it in the future?

I think we need a race where clarkson is in the reliant robbin or a 1970s Lada and he still manages to beat public transport one way or another

that would really "stick it to the man"

Hey, that is a good idea. Jezza should do the public transport thingy and May and Hamster should drive the car.

They should do another epic race, those were my favorite episodes. One season they even did 2 races! The Aston Martin DB9 vs Train, and then Ferrari 612 scalieti vs plane and bus. And now we can't even get 1 race? Sadness images/smilies/sad.gif

I'm thinking the Caparo T1 versus the Eurostar. And, to shake things up, let Hammond at the wheel.

They should race across America or Australia, maybe using the GTB Ferrari 599?

I've seen some articles in car magazines lately where Ferrari is letting the press drive 612's through odd parts of the world. I think one was from Shanghai to Moscow, and the other was from Chile to Texas. Would love to see Clarkson take a Ferrari across China racing against something. The pictures in the magazines made the roads look terrible, so he'll get some just punishment images/smilies/tongue.gif

They should have a race in the middle of Japan. Jeremy and the Stig take somthing like a 599 GTB from Tokyo through the rural areas and mountain roads to some significant destination, while trying to outrun Hammond and May who are flying a blimp or somthing haha.

Not likely. You can beat on those cars and STILL get 40 mpg! They are built with what I and Toyota calls "proven technology". Plus...I kind of like the styling. And I bet if you put some effort into the suspension with sticky tires, I bet it would corner quite well.

No, I am not being sarcastic! At a job I had a few years ago, most of the delivery vehicles were Geo Metros. Most of them racked up 200,000+ miles and STILL ran.

From certain angles I like the styling too. And the MPG is my favorite thing about it. Its fun seeing people whine about gas prices and then I can say "I get 40 mpg". I have 167700 on mine right now, its still going. It corners pretty well right now, nothing spectacular. If I knew how to work on cars I might do something with the suspension.

The question isn't where to have the race, it's more of a question what they're racing against. Obviously, Jezza is in a car. And there are plenty of cars to choose from. New ones appear every day.

But what will he race against? They've done the train thing, they've done airplanes x2, and they've done boats. We're kinda running out of things here. Except for busses (which Jezza in the car obviously will beat), what else is there?

Jezza was offered the chance to do a race using London public transport by a friend of mine, but declined. I think he said something along the lines of "Because London Transport is s**t" basically.
I thought Jeremy may drive the SAAB Aero 8 X about Switzerland whilst the other two use skidus and sleighs around some of the more snowy parts, seeing as the Swizz like quiet, eco- friendly cars.
