Just inform us if you find any mistake in them. There is some update to the 9x05 one according to the latest posts. Initially we (catchup and I) were planing to do the rest 3. But since now it is more like a world-wide project, I suggest some native speakers to finish the transcriptions, save them to some .txt files, and let us make them into .srt files.

About the 00:34:04,477 one, sorry about the misleading, but the thing we actually can't be sure is what Kristin said.

Car: Mazda MX5 Rep Power: 0 ![]() | You had the Kristin part right, that's why i didn't comment on it For sake of accuracy here it is:Kristin in studio: "That was my favorite part" Kristin in car: "...breaking hard enough, bloody hell..." Best way to differentiate the two lines is put on top the in-car line and put the studio line below, in italics (just add <i> at the beginning of the line) to indicate that someone is speaking off screen. |

Car: Mazda MX5 Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Btw since there are already a few subtitles ready, how about creating a section in the site for hosting subtitles? AFAIK subtitles don't have the legal issues that the video files have, since they are created by us, so no trouble with the BBC. Any mods/admins/site owners want to chime in? |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | The subtitles would probably be seen as derivative work, as they very much are, and thus also be a case of copyright infringement. |

| And distributing the torrents of the episodes over the internet somehow isn't? | |

I use GBpvr and it can save the subtitles from the teletext. It can be a bit difficult to set up and it almost requires a tv card with a hardware encoder, but when it's working it produces a nice srt file. Miscellaneous tab - Capture subtitles to SRT file (requires Teletext)

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I have cut all the overlong sentences in the 09*05 subtitle into small ones. Now the longest sentences take up 2 lines on my screen. I think it's more close to normal DVD subtitles. Somebody who has a desktop DVD player could have a try to see if it's OK. http://www.mediafire.com/?fn111gwojot RS4, a Chinese in our team, has made dozens of further corrections. Hope someone can do final checks to make it as good as possible. |

Rep Power: 14 ![]() | I have a slight experience in fansubbing Anime but I don't have free time so all I can do is recommend some stuff. Instead of using .srt use .ssa or .ass. These are more advanced and offer more typesetting and styling mark ups. Also available are tranformations like fade in/out, scaling in x/y, rotating in x,y,z, moving etc. They can be edited in any text editor, but if you want to manipulate then with ease and time subtitles to the audio track then use software like http://aegisub.cellosoft.com/ You should be able to convert from .srt to ssa/ass You can hard sub the subtitles onto the avi using VSFilter.dll in virtual dub. Another option would be to use the MKV container. It allows you to attach fonts so that the subtitles will show up correct. |

Car: Mazda MX5 Rep Power: 0 ![]() | FWIW I'd advise against these options for the simple reason that they reduce compatibility with desktop dvd players. Also many users lack the decoders on their computers for mkv files and you end up with a lot of "I can hear sound but can't see video, why?" questions. avi, srt are just fine with widespread use and suit the purpose 99% of the time. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Our subtitle team has done some transcription for the 09×06. Here is what we've come up with. http://www.mediafire.com/?7jyljoy2kmx Vuk’s and RiVER’s rip are in one zip file. Their contents are the same. The only difference is the timelines. As usual, there remained dozens of sentences we couldn’t understand. Could you please help us to finish it? (revising either one of them is good enough for us )Here are the numbers of the difficult sentences for us: 32 101 115 155 164 230 231 232 266 381 395 401 529 544 562 755 760 829 833 849 868 888 911 1076 1144 The ".srt" file can be edited simply using the WordPad(Each of the words we couldn’t figure out are marked as "/"). However, the best way I know to edit the ".srt" is using the software called Subtitle Workshop. It's 100% free, and here is the download address: http://www.urusoft.net/download.php?lang=1&id=sw After you install it, these are the steps to edit the subtitle efficiently: 1. put the srt file and the avi file under the same folder, making sure they have the same name, for example: "Top Gear vuk.srt" and "Top Gear vuk.avi" 2. run Subtitle Workshop 3. open the srt file in Subtitle Workshop, then the avi file should be opened by the software automatically(If you have xvid code in your system). 4. double click on the sentence you want to edit, the video will jump to its time immediately. Then you can edit the sentence in the input window at the bottom of the screen. Thank you very much ![]() |

Car: Mazda MX5 Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Here you are: http://www.mediafire.com/?eiiizyttryt (corrected a couple not on your list as well). The ones marked "Not sure" below, need to be looked at by someone else, since I wasn't able to fix them. 32 Not sure 101 DONE (There's no more, Hammond's mouth is moving but the audio has been edited) 115 DONE 155 DONE 164 Not sure 167 DONE (not on your list initially) 230 Not sure (230-232 are too UK specific, we need some UK people to have a look) 231 Not sure 232 Not sure 266 Not sure 381 DONE (Hammond just cuts the word) 395 Not sure 401 DONE (I think it's just a grunt not a word) 529 Not sure 544 DONE 562 DONE 754 DONE (not on your list initially) 755 DONE 760 DONE 761 DONE (not on your list initially) 765 DONE (not on your list initially) 766 DONE (not on your list initially) 829 DONE 833 DONE 849 DONE 868 DONE 888 DONE 910 DONE (not on your list initially) 911 Not sure 1076 DONE 1144 Not sure |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hi guys! I'm very happy about this topic, and I might be able to help! But why can't I download the finished subtitles from the mediafire.com? Is it possible to upload it to the http://www.opensubtitles.org/en website? Cheers |

![]() The download link of the mediafire.com is in the right of the page. I've uploaded the lastest version of English subtitle to the opensubtitles.org, but I couldn't find it through the "search" box using the name of "Top Gear" myself
