Default The Watches of Top Gear

I don't know if any of you guys here are into watches as much as you're into cars but I basically have an obsession with engineering perfection, and that includes nice watches [User Posted Image]

I was wondering if anyone knew or noticed what kind of watches the crew of Top Gear wears?

I know Jezza often wears (or used to) a Omega Seamaster with a blue dial.

If you love watches, check out this thread and post yours up. [User Posted Image]

I absolutely love May's watch. The one he wore when he drove the 207 in the Parkour segment, and more recently when he drove the V8 Vantage N24.

I'm quite sure it's a Rado Ceramica.

In the news segment when Clarkson is taunting May with his wonky bezel, it looks like he has a Rolex Oyster of some sort... I'm away from my PC so can't verify; anyone have a screenshot?

^ I dunno, I just watched it and it doesn't look like an Oyster he's wearing. It might be a Submariner on a black dial though... does that come with a leather strap?

Edit: Actually, looks like the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean.

I guess Jezza's an Omega fan. Not sure why though, I'm sure he can afford much nicer watches.

the same reason why multimillionaire Clarkson dresses in such mid priced mediocre clothes. im pretty sure he has some watches that none of us would ever spend money on.

But he spends a lot of money on watches as you can see, just not a whole hell of a lot. He obviously doesn't care about clothes but he does about watches. Anyway, he probably does have nicer pieces but Omega is pretty suited to wear to the track.

Well, not everyone likes to wear a Patek Phillipe or an A.Lange & Söhne, etc...everyday. They scratch too easily.
And afterall Omega has always been known as a tool watch company. Something you can wear everyday, made out of solid steel rather than easily scratched gold or platinum.

I remember reading Jezza's column a long time ago, and he said that he liked the Bell & Ross watches. (www.bellross.com)
They're slightly too square for my liking, but I remember him complaining about all the gadgetry in the watches today, and how Bell & Ross have simple, clear dials.

I was going to get an Omega, I love them, and you see a lot of smart celebrities wear them because they're not flashy but still quality. So I was going in to buy the Apollo 15 Special Edition but then I saw the Breitling that was just perfect.

I posted pics of my watch on that other thread.

If memory serves me correct, I think he was contemplating whether to get the BR 01-92 or not.

I personally like the design of the newer BR 01-97 with Power Reserve indicator, but the sheer size of the thing could be a bit too much when people actually see it in person.

Those things look pretty hideous in my opinion. How much is a Bell & Ross?

Hi there!

What watch had Richard Hammond on 9 and 10 series of Top Gear?

In the Africa special, one of the film crew was wearing a Breitling Emergency like this one. Its an awsome watch, I want one if I become a pilot. It has a little pin in it that if you pull it out, it sends off an emergancy signal and search and rescue come looking for you (hopefully!)

^ Richard Branson wears one of those too sometimes. It's pretty cool that it has the ability to send out a homing signal, and it comes in this huge orange emergency box thing. But I think it's a pretty ugly watch, especiaslly for $5,000.
