I don't think the production team cars that much about ratings, been the BBC they don't have to please advertises, just enough licence payers to justify keeping it on.

I do think it was rushed together due to Hammonds minor skid images/smilies/wink.gif and all the car reviews were either not done because Hammond was in hospital or were too old to be relevant.

If they do, then - at least to me - TG is pretty much dead. Bring back the reviews that made me feel as if I was in the car, not as if I'm in a burning camper. images/smilies/dry.gif I guess we'll just have to wait and see what comes of it. All we can do now is speculate.

I have to agree. While I found the non-review segments funny, I want to know how the latest in crazy cars is to drive. I know there not keen on reviewing simple cars like Fiat Panda's, but I would like to see more reviews too.

I think Richard's accident probably had alot to do with Season 9 being a disappointment. I'm cautiously optimistic that this series will be back to top gear form. I don't see much good in already making assumptions that its going to be bad, I like looking forward to it, not so much dreading it.

Top Gear has long since evolved (or devolved in my opinion) from the old days where the show was about car reviews! Now, it's a just a plethora of dicking about whilst applying some remote reference to an automobile in the skit. Occasionally, there'll be a really great review and it's those memories I cherish the most. I just wish the show direction would veer back to the balance of goof ball and automotive entertainment (e.g. seasons 7 & 6).

Of course, the producers and much of the viewers (mostly non-petrol heads I reckon) will have a different view than me on this issue.

But who am I to complain? I love Top Gear and I'm quite aware I'm nitpicking. However, it's the little things that matter to me and I hope some people out there share the same opinion.

I can understand that Top Gear is no longer a "consumer advice" program. Although their comparison tests are always such a laugh I hope they continue with them. But damn they have some supercars to catch up on. Biggest one of course being the 599 GTB. That's why the races were always so good. Very very entertaining, yet still got to see a great car in action.

Just to clarify, I don't want another fifth gear. I don't necessarily look for simple consumer friendly tips (which was chucked after the 1st or 2nd season) but rather entertainment related specifically to the details of the car. For example, when I'm out purchasing a Bugatti, I'd like to know what the exhaust note sounds like and how wicked the power slides are. images/smilies/biggrin.gifimages/smilies/tongue.gif

Doubt it. We'll see a whole lot more reviews. The reason why there were so many challenges/cocking about and so little reviews was because all the cheap stuff (i.e. the reviews) had to be shelved when the season had to be cut down. Are you going to show the cheap stuff or are you going to show the stuff that cost lots of money?

Exactly. All the very expensive stuff brought them increadable ratings. The 8 mil crowd tuned in to watch Richard afther the "crash fuzz", & appearantly liked the show & kept tuning in. They don't want to go back to their usual 5mil ppl ratings, that's why they gonna keep the season 9ish style.

Until then I intend to make the most of the hot weather, drink as much beer as I can and chill.

Top Gear rocks, and if it didn't none of you would be posting on this forum.

I hope they get the Veyron on the test track and I also wish that they start cocking about like they did in series 8 "How hard can it be?" images/smilies/biggrin.gif

So if you don't download them, then you have to wait 1.5 years to see them on SBS, at which time you wont have the clash of TG and Uni exams. So whats the problem then??
