Top Gear episodes on iTunes?

Who here thinks it is only a matter of time before Top Gear becomes available for purchase / download on iTunes? Would the BBC allow for this?

If it were to happen, I think it would be a gold mine for the show. They will never air on American TV - and I think this would be the next best (legal) alternative. I could easily see it becoming one of the most downloaded shows on the service.

Thoughts?

A brilliant idea but unfortunately can't see it happening soon. Would be cool if it did.
I would definitely pay for hi-quality clips that are legal.

If they start selling crap quality episodes on iTunes, then I fear the BBC would *try* to come after this site, or at least the torrents. images/smilies/sad.gif Selling out to iTunes sounds like a bad idea to me. If you want to sell the show, at least sell them on DVD.

I very much doubt it will be available on iTunes - it's MUCH more likely they release an international, commercial version of the iPlayer (comes out in the UK in a few months).

This is something I know has been planned for a while now anyway so it MUCH more likely to happen than itunes.

I wouldn't mind too much if itunes worked will on linux. I long ago stopped buying music from the itunes store because breaking the drm so it will work on all my devices proved to be more trouble than getting in a car and buying a cd. I just think apple is a bit too focused on making you use their stuff to play their content.

Now if they put add supported content on Jooced (and jooced made it out of beta) I would be a happy clam except for the lack of a copy on my hard drive that can be viewed offline or on a plane.

We don't get TV shows or movies here in the UK anyway, isn't it just the USA? Torrents are better, you can watch them whenever you like and unlike iTunes they arent a pain in the arse to use anywhere else.

In a couple of months you'll be able to download any tv or radio show broadcast on any BBC tv or radio network for free using the iPlayer (if you're in the UK) so you don't need iTunes.

Channel 4 have already launched their on demand service (full of free stuff) and ITV launch theirs in a couple of months as well.

That sounds pretty cool. I do hope they make an international version though!

From what I've heard - YES - there will be an international version (in about a year). The last I heard it will be subscription based but it may be they offer pay to own as well.

NO ITUNES.

I have had it up to my eyeballs with all this DRM Crap.

In fact DRM is what turned me into a pirate in the first place. Until then, I was happy to go buy what I wanted, but when they decided to tell me when, on what and where I could play my purchase, well we all know what I decided.
